Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How well connected are you to other people on forums?

This is just a question to satisfy my curiosity.  How many people do you know in real life that frequents this or any forum?
It is unbecoming for young men to utter maxims.

I know a lot of you won't care but I also posted a similar poll on the Big Purple:keke:

I used to game with Hinterwelt, I've met Zachary the First & Dr.Rotwang!(IIRC). So I've meet a few.

Serious Paul

On this forum I don't know anyone and haven't met anyone in real life-on another forum I've met a small group of people, who also happen to be friends of friends I know in real life. A few of my real life friends frequent various forums.

Koltar

I have done 4 business deals with people that I've met on the SJG forums, There have been at least TWO different women flirt with me via PM  at the Orange & Friendly, two frequent posters over there sought out my phone number and called me up on the phone. (Paladin/The Gunny was one of them - and Yeah He Really IS a marine)

Because of the now well-known outfit I wear and charity activity that i do at Gen Con...I have met at leat 8 people that frequent this forum and the Big Purple. (maybe more). A few people said "Hey you're that guy online....without telling me what their handle/avatar was.  It was just busy enough at times that I couldn't get more details on a few people.

Thing is I have more respect for all the people that introduced themselves in-person. (Hi Zachary, JoeWolz, C.W....etc....)  I suspect there were a few more that were either too shy to speak up at Gen Con or might have been holding a grudge about arguments or debates that I forgot about.

By-the-way , Tehana from rpg.net is really cute in person and has nice eyes.

I was about to vote 'only by persona, but I might arrange a meeting', but then I remembered I bought jrient's Mekton Zeta books, so...I've done business with one forum member.

Via eBay. But there was email!

I think I may have run into Koltar at Gencon 2006,if he was there. Otherwise it was dude that looked just like him.

I've been told that I was the only Klingon there this past year and one of the very few in 2006.

IF you walked past the Jail Table in front of the exhibitors hall after hours in August 2006 and saw a guy with 1 or 2 other people trying to get a GURPS:TRAVELLER game  started up - that was me.

the closest answer was "know personae/would meet IRL".

i did stumble upon a guy i gamed with in undergrad over at rpg.net.  a little while later i also stumbled upon one from my old (local) group as well there.  but since i moved to this place, i haven't had contact with them.

would like to do business with some from here, but i need some disposable income, first.

Joshua Ford

To date I've met three people from forums and gamed with them. Having got on well online I was actually disappointed with the gaming. I suspect that the people we'd actually most enjoy playing with are the ones we often spend most time arguing with.

O'Borg

I've met four or five folks from RPGnet, and found out a couple of people I game with have accounts there and at another forum or two I frequent.

I've also met about a dozen folks from my car owners club forum when we went to a track day a few years ago.
Account no longer in use by user request.

Gunslinger

I've been introduced to one person via forum and have had a couple of near encounters with people who've come here on vacation.  I never really have the time to look up folks when I'm back on the mainland.

Danger

Hmmm...

As far as I know, no one.

I'm so lonely.

You just threw that in there to rub our noses in it, didn't you?
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

Dude,
Before she moved out of state and changed her hair color , she used to shop at the game store that I work at.  This year at Gen Con she told me that she really misses Cincinnati. Tehana only moved to Massachusetts to be with her boyfriend.

In 2006, she recognized me through all the Klingon stuff and gave me a good hug - I was feeling down, so that hug  helped. I  tend to remember really good hugs from good looking gamer girls.
