Quote from: Man at Arms on May 15, 2025, 05:21:48 AMSome people have a really hard time, separating the creation, from the creator.

It's like people search for something to hate on, all the time.  When the creator is long dead and gone, used copies will still be around. Maybe then, people will check out the creation?

I'm not just speaking specifically, about this particular creation.  Either the product is useful, or it isn't.

There are people who don't like Pundit, for instance; and they wouldn't dare give his creations a chance.  It's ok to look at stuff, and see what you think.  Find usable bits and pieces.  Take something from it.

I'm happy to separate the author from the works--as long as the author meets me halfway.  Heck, not even halfway, just show a little sense.  When the author acts like such an idiot that it reaches a point for me when interacting with their stuff, all I can think is, "and this was written by that idiot", then the author has made it impossible for me to separate him from his work.  He made that world; I'm just living in it.

Now, that's necessarily a different line for every person. I don't expect people to boycott because someone has crossed that line for me. Furthermore, I don't pretend that if you examined the policies of every single author, musician, artist, etc. that my personal "boycotts" would even be consistent. Some people that disagree with me, it's just let's agree to disagree, and that's good enough for me.

Or to sum up, the statement of "don't buy from people that hate you," isn't "don't buy from people you disagree with." Of course, part of the problem is many that hate you don't understand that distinction.

I'm glad that there is a very reasonably priced option for the pdf.  I was impressed with how open he was with previewing the ongoing builds for free during the process as well despite my feelings on his repeatedly being a complete ass in other ways.  On a related note, this thread made the game's FB page as well as I took a peek this week.   The fox is hiding in the bushes waiting and watching!

30 dollars for a pdf?!

He's got brass balls; I'll give him that.

If you buy it from his own website you can use BLACKBIRDS at the checkout to get it for $10, just a friendly note
It's a $10 discount, not $10 for the pdf. So $20 total.

Keeping Warhammer Fantasy alive is a noble quest. Just don't do it the way Daniel did. They say that any advertising is good advertising, but he is the first to actually prove this wrong. They can't let it go, either. Six days ago they're still emboldened about it enough to make a random big post jokingly threatening to take away oxygen itself while simultaneously advertising the new edition. I just cannot support this. https://www.facebook.com/ZweihanderRPG/

You can't deal with someone you don't like poking fun at another poster. Good grief, why so serious?

It's been going on since Covid. They've literally been beating this dead horse like some kind of trophy for over half a decade. It's downright senile.

Then this was me misreading the email

I ran a long campaign of the prior version of Zweihander and it was very successful and everyone enjoyed it. I got the new version Reforged and I really like all of the changes - a lot is simplified and cleaned up. It also leans heavily into what I like for my grimdark games - which is that the grim part is your character getting jacked up over time. At this point it's less like 2e than 4e is, but much simpler than 4e.

If you folks really want some hot tea to spill, go look up the case Dan filed against police for both violating his first amendment rights and conspiring to do so, which he not only lost but doxxed himself in the process, And by doxxed I mean the news outlets covering it, not just the court documents which are also publicly available.

Then again he did say he'd be our huckleberry.

Never posted there, yet he has me blocked, because of course he does.

I am finding the Hedge Knight class in the PHB, appealing.

A big part of Zweiihander's appeal is that there are so many options in one book. I've never been a fan of the "million splatbooks" approach.

Fox's shenanigans aside, Zweihander Revised is an excellent neo-clone. Streamlines WFRP 2e while keeping it real. Plenty of material to keep you gaming for a long time.

After having read the PG, I'd rather just stick with WFRP1
