Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Oh, cool! A miniature based on Elmore’s iconic warrior! Oh…

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Kind of off-topic, but someone started a thread on "Baptism of Fire". The post was immediately challenged because Pundit is the author. "How dare you!", etc.

The guy who created the thread pointed out that it's one of the highest selling PDFs on drivethrurpg right now, but that doesn't matter.

The thread was quickly shut down, and I expect that's why the person responded in that way. Can't have people talking about a game for itself, whether it's fun or not. Which elements work, and which ones don't, etc. The guy who wrote it gives us grumblies in our tumblies.

Something, something genetic fallacy.

Hi and thanks.  Just read about Baptism of Fire and looks like I'll be parting with some monies.  And I found his blog   :-).  Thank you.

Hi GeekyBugle and Shark, thanks very much for the warm greeting.

Odds are BGG is doing the same. I just dont give enough of a fuck to look anymore.

Surprised they have not infiltrated and co-opted places like RPG Pub already.

Quote from: Jason Coplen on May 11, 2024, 01:14:05 PMJeebus, I went and read some of it. That site really is too far left with Umbran and Morrus thinking they're right and this sex swap is fine.

Well evidently when morrus made the sarcastic quip to me: "It's fun, isn't it?" he didn't really mean it...

He blocked me after my last post, which 'locks' me out of the thread because he started it.

So I can see notifications of people replying to my post, but cannot reply in turn because the thread is not available to me.

Which of course makes it look like I walked away as there is no official red text thread ban, because I didn't actually violate any of their forum rules.

Being his forum and all, morrus knew full well what he was doing...

They like to dish it out, but man they really can't take any pushback.

Oh, and welcome RPhlegethon. Also, good luck...

The mental gymnastics to try and prove the equivalent that 2+2=5 because math can universally interpreted differently. With no such thing as objective truth makes them look mentally ill.

Yeah last time I posted at rpg.Net Junior was about a decade and I see no need to go back.

Welcome to the site RPH.

Buh, buh, but there is no woke agenda! Except when there is. Then it's a good thing. But it's a conspiracy theory. Except when it isn't.

...

The female elephant in the room is that Elmore has drawn a ton of female characters. In armor, in chainmail bikinis, in loincloths, etc. Plenty to pick one and make a mini out of. But "they" (who don't exist, except when they do, and when they do it's a good thing) decided to "interpret" a character into a female. (Elmore has flatly stated it's a male.) The goal isn't to increase diversity and inclusion, it's to piss off fans and make products they don't want to buy.

Clearest instance of outrage marketing I've seen in awhile, yet not sure how alienating their target audience is going to work out for them.

Quote from: honeydipperdavid on May 09, 2024, 08:05:26 PMit's wizkids they sucked the ass infused woke juice a few years back.  They stopped listing for the PC miniatures whether they were male or female.
Yet they claim this particular model is 'purposefully and clearly' female.

Quote from: honeydipperdavid on May 09, 2024, 08:05:26 PMMeanwhile, that encouraged me to buy my 3D printer and bye bye wizkids.  Dumb motherfuckers, they are easily replaced and you get a much better product.
Which they shouldn't have a problem with, as there's nothing more Marxist that seizing the means of production.

Quote from: Ratman_tf on May 10, 2024, 04:17:04 AMIt's a trap, and enough people fall for it to make it worthwhile for them to pull it.
...well played.

Quote from: jeff37923 on May 10, 2024, 10:54:59 AMI just have to wonder if they think that any of this woke retconning is going to help sales at all.
The trick is these are all blind boosters so they're not going to measure how well this particular sculpt sells but how successful the line in general is, and then brag about how this decision was justified.

Which brings up my disdain for blind boosters for minis. We'll see how the mini sells on the 3rd party singles market. My bet is it winds up a sub $1.00 that chogs up shelf space.

Youngins asked me "why do dms give old grogs priority in feedback and implementation, why are newer people second fiddle"?

Answer was painful; because that grog is a player, barring snow or health issues grog will always show up to play, grog prepares to play ahead of time, grog is always playing even in time between sessions as he talks about what characters should do or are doing in downtime, grog plans in-game construction projects and draws up maps of them....grog is a real player. authentic. real.

That was the core answer, but also, if you pay attention its always the youngest or least experienced that are always whining about things w/o understanding why they are the way they are and calling that "feeback".

I think a real player, one who knows and loves the game and plays it because its fun with no ulterior motive, would be of the opinion as I was this entire time that the featured Elmore warrior was supposed to be the idealized version of the basic warrior character you play in the tutorial portion of the becmi players booklet.

Reminds of a clickbait article "scientists discover ancient fruit that prove pharaohs were gay, let that sink in, and thats a good thing, here is what you need to know and then THIS happened..."

Thats because they are mentally ill.

But this whole minis fiasco is just more proof that someone in marketing thinks outrage marketing will bring in the free advertising. And odds are it is working.

Definitely agree.  When I was running my longest campaign, I frequently went to the grumpiest player (who incidentally introduced me to roleplaying more than a decade earlier!) for specific targeted feedback.  Admittedly I fed that feedback through a filter based on knowing him for almost 15 years at that time to weed out things that were just his personal bugbears but he was the most reliable source of at least some concrete response to what I was asking.  I'd ask the other players as well who were newer to roleplaying but, depending on the person and usually their length of play in the hobby, they were less likely to respond.  If they were completely (<2-3 years) new to RPGs, they were more likely to slowly fade away or even just ghost than give any feedback for the in person game.  If they had some experience (5-10 years), they might give a thumbs up but you had to press them for any actual detail.
