This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

Or is this like an RPG version of "WHo is John Galt?"

The "World's Largest" line developer (for AEG).

Pierce Inverarity

Honestly? Even though he's clearly a prat also, I like the second Jim Pinto better.

QuoteJim Pinto was named California Small Business Person of the Year for the State of California in 1980. (...) He is a Member of the Association of Professional Futurists and the World Future Society.

Jim currently resides in San Diego, California. His interests include technology futures (he is a popular speaker on the subject); technology investments (Managing Partner at AngelMoney.com); writing (he writes for several webzines and journals and magazines); poetry (he has been called : "The poet laureate of the Instrumentation Industry" and his poetry has been published internationally); Music (piano, MIDI); Chess (not a master, but he likes it); the Internet (an avid web-surfer, and he does his own web-site).

What's the instrumentation industry?

 Thank you for the info.
We carry AEG at the store - but I never looked at the credits in their books that closely.

Was "World's Largest City" any good?

I almost bought that one in hope that the maps would be usable with a GURPS:FANTASYgame. unfortunately for me - some customer beat me to the purchasing of it.

As an idea mine, it is gold. As an actual reference book, the lack of a detailed table of contents and total lack of an index crippled it to the point of uselessness.

It would be nice to know why he is a prat:confused:

Regarding the other Jim Pinto, Pierce quotes:

Jumping right on to a related matter, were any of you aware that Lester Smith, game author and game designer, is also a devoted poet?  Funny little world.

I could be wrong but I think they are refering to instruments and readouts. From aircraft cockpits gauges to industrial machines gauges/readouts to medical equipment readouts.

I've never met AEG's jim pinto (he doesn't capitalize his name), but I remember Shadis taking a...well, I didn't like it after he became editor.

I used to be in the digital instrumentation business a few years ago and i refute the crazy claims of Jim Pinto being the poet laureate of the industry!

I'm much better. Here's a sample.

'Roses are red, violets are blue,
i'm gonna punch your face in.'

*special geek point for knowing where that comes from*

still wondering about his prat-itude, shadis editorial ability (or lack thereof) notwithstanding.
