Nothing new information wise but Sophisticated Games has started updating the layout of their web site.

Well now I can't take anything in this thread at face value, after broad erroneous statements have been made.

Edit: okay just one broad erroneous statement, that I know of.

Well Good! Get off my fucking lawn then, and bugger off, so we here can keep discussing what makes us happy without your worthless prattle. Go light your gaslight somewhere else. You are always welcome to come back, if you actually, ...you know, ...want to talk about games, instead of gamers.
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.

It's a public park ya doofus, not your lawn.

Anyway, at least on the One Ring discord there's been no suggestion that AiME would be scrapped, and TOR 2nd edition carried over. It certainly doesn't make any sense to me. AiME has been very successful, and is an obvious safe-bet with all the 5e players now-a-days.

Yeah, Sophisticated Games has indicated that neither line is dead. Though it has also been coy on details, probably because there are still details to work out. My baseless theory is that the issue is C7's new art direction--it is both generic Forgotten Realms in look and tone deaf to Tolkien. That, or maybe C7's move to Ireland and Brexit played a part.

Hmmm? I thought C7 was located in Scotland. Did they move to Ireland recently?

I did a background check on both companies. C7 signed a note provided by Sophisticated games or maybe it was George, Allen, & UnWin?... for some real estate, I presume that was for their offices located in Scotland. As far as I know, they have been paying that mortgage along with extra, more than $30,000 annually to Sophisticated Games, I would guess this was the fees and royalties for the Tolkien License. C7 may have had a Tolkien license at one time, but they don't right now, as Sophisticated Games owns the license according to Middle Earth Enterprises. They may have always had the license and just sub-licensed the Tolkien IP to c7, I don't know.

Sophisticated Games has offices in the United Kingdom, and is currently (as of March, when their annual report was filed) sitting on about a half a million pounds in cash, that is about $700,000 in U.S. Dollars, and even if they didn't own the license before C7, I'm pretty sure they got the attentions of Middle Earth Enterprises, waving a flag o cash all like ''Heeeeyyyy Bartender, I be needing a drink!" at the local pub.

Also I thought Scotland was also going to do a separate vote to remain in the E.U., and well, essentially leave the United Kingdom. Is that what Ireland is doing as well?

What if they ended up clashing with Games Workshop over the IP? Does GW even still pay license and make games with the IP?

I don't see how there would be an issue unless they began directly taking from GW's OCDonutSteal content? Even then, I'm sure the contract probably has a clause somewhere that anything they do invent/expand upon by default becomes 'property' of the IP holders rather than GW.

But yes, Strategy Battle Game has recently seen a resurgence.

Scotland cannot hold a separate vote to remain in the EU while it remains part of the UK. The last attempt at a referendum to exit the UK failed; I suspect the next attempt will also fail while HM The Queen is alive.

If Scotland successfully exits the UK to become an independent nation for the first time since 1707, then it could petition the EU to be allowed entry. If it did exit the UK, it would retain The Queen (or King Charles III) as the Monarch. There is no move to become a republic at the moment.

As for Ireland, it is made up of two parts. The Republic of Ireland (the southern part) is largely Catholic and is a separate sovereign nation. It remains in the EU. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. It is largely Protestant and there has never been any serious talk about seceding from the UK.
