People have been spreading lies and misinformation (as usual) about my motives and goals in talking about the need for a "DnDGate" movement and what it's all about. Here's the truth.

Thank you for clearing this up and setting the record straight on your intentions and outlook. I've never understood being exclusive in gaming, we are all in this together and different people bring different things to the table.

So basically your okay w/ gay and transgender people, unless our favorite rpg company sells shirts to donate 100% of their funds for disenfranchised gay youths. And you are using it as a clarion call to personally profit.

Got it.

"Our" favorite gaming company? When did it become "yours?"

This isn't going to make me popular. But I do believe some amount of gatekeeping is necessary to make a gaming group actually function. Problem players are absolutely disruptive to the hobby. And they deserve to face consequences of ruining everybody else's fun.

Also. I told a story awhile back about this kid that was a minor trying to edge his way into a game whose subject matter was beyond his age level to be exposed to. I felt justified as the GM at the time, in telling him no. That he wouldn't be allowed join in the group due to his age. I won't put myself or the other members of my game groups at risk of being sued by litigious parents who don't approve of having their kid exposed to material beyond the age level of their little darling. And I flat out don't want to waste the time of myself or my group on making exceptions for some special snowflake that believes they are above the laws and mores of society at large.

If that makes me a gatekeeping asshole. Then I'm a gatekeeping asshole..

Now. As to Pundit's video. I agree with him. I hate the fact that everything in society has become so stupidly political. Honestly? That's the type of stuff I try to get away from when I am gaming. It's a choice between fun and misery. I will choose the fun every single time. And fight like hell to protect it.

You're not alone in your thinking. The group as a whole is more important than any individual. If that makes someone whine that the group isn't being 'inclusive' to that player (because the player's behavior is annoying and disruptive or because of their sensitivity to the current game, because of their age or maturity), that's their problem, not the groups. Maybe 'that player' should look for a different group that will put up with them or start their own group. The whole concept of 'everyone has to accept everyone else and play nice' is utter nonsense.

I miss the days when people would ragequit and had the courage of their convictions to keep from posting on the forums. They may have been shitty people, but at least they had integrity.
"Meh."

I am greatly disappointed by the lack of cats in your video.

However, it is a good thing that you are taking this head-on. I think you will get a lot of shit from the SJW crowd about it, but you can handle the crap.
"Meh."

Merrill

Oh I think there needs to be a DnDgate and a purging of "problem people" in this hobby/industry

When we say "SJW crowd", we mean a generally small group of loud, chronically-offended, aggressive, and disruptive group of people, many of whom are connected to the hobby only indirectly.

This has nothing to do with liberal or "progressive" (whatever the fuck that mean) politics, but involves people who are simply assholes. I get along just fine with a good number of people who are quite liberal, or even Marxist, but I have no time for SJW crusades, political violence, and coercion. The people who do the latter, need to be called out, shunned, and confronted. Why? Well they have done the following

1. Made false allegations against others within the hobby (as RPGpundit talks about above), some of which involve sexual harassment. Frank Mentzer, Bill Webb, and Larry Correia are just some of the individuals who have been falsely accused (there have been many at this point).
2. They have launched boycotts, shadow campaigns, and protests against game designers they think are politically, or ideologically unacceptable (James Desborough was targeted, along with many others). Online retailers were pressured into dropping titles, cancelling deliveries or product, and terminate contracts.
3. Some have engaged in truly outrageous online behavior, such as praising James Hodgkinson (the guy who shot up the GOP softball game), or denounced our veterans, etc.
4. Most have called for hate speech laws and other affronts on the First Amendment
5. Pushed their SJW bullshit into the texts and rules that serve as a foundation of the hobby.

People in this hobby need to stop being passive--they need to confront the assholes that are hijacking the hobby.

Darrin Kelley

I am a supporter of James Desborough. I bought quite a few of his more infamous products through rpgnow.com because I found them charming and humorous enough to own.

Oh, I will just say it! I bought the entire Hentacle line as it came out. I own every expansion for it. It approached the subject matter from the direction of making fun of it. Making fun of something so objectionable is the true way of making such a subject fade away into the obscurity where it belongs. As the Brits would say: It's taking the piss out of it.

bat

I do not believe the previous poster was gatekeeping or saying something unpopular, sometimes personalities clash, some people are incompatible, that is life. I run a public game in a bar and a handicapped guy with one leg got kicked out for just being a total and complete jerk. At first he seemed nice, then he just started arguing with everyone, being disruptive and abusive to some people. There are humans like that, they just love to disrupt and cause misery because they are miserable. The bartender knew the guy and he is pretty despicable, to the point his family dropped him. He didn't want to play, he wanted to be a jerk.

Really? Just say "Trump" at a table. Watch what happens to the other players.

I just choose not to buy games written by the religious left.

Sounds like a purely US issue.  At any table I'm likely to play on, there's going to be quick agreement that the guy's a dick, and then, given there's nothing more to say, gaming will recommence.
