This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Which OSR RPGs Have You Actually Played/Run?

Quote from: Chris24601;1032951When I get the Old School itch my go to is 1e Palladium Fantasy (and there are enough Palladium fans in the area that getting a group together isn't hard), but I've done BECMI and every edition of AD&D up through Skills & Powers.

I've not touched any of the new OSR stuff because my old books are still fully functional.

I've been using Lamentations of the Flame Princess

I've also been running one-shots using Traveller Books 1, 2, and 3 at local conventions lately. While more Old School than OSR I thought I'd mention it because running original Traveller requires all the stuff Matt Finch talked about in Old School Primer. When Marc Miller said in an interview he had a copy of D&D (Volumes I-III) when he wrote Traveller I wasn't surprised. Despite the introduction of skills, the game expects the Referee to run the game like early RPG play.

Off the top of my head...
DCC,
Swords and Wizardry,
Crypts and Things,
Fantastic Heroes and Witchery.

For non-D&D OSR, if people accept that there is such a thing, I've run a ton of BoL and Openquest.

Hey now, I only recieved compensation for running it the one time. One. Time. :D

Technically none because those books are D&D supplements. I use the Labyrinth Lord and assorted other Gobliniod stuff with the RC, and when I play in the old AD&D 1e game, I often just bring the OSRIC hardcover with me because it's convenient.

Swords and Wizardry (Core and WB)
Beyond the Wall
Labyrinth Lord
Mutant Future
Heroes and Other Worlds
Legends of the Ancient World ( first game I ever ran)

This thread has reminded me that I have many more that I have never gotten around to playing or running.

Quote from: Hermes Serpent;1032944Does OD&D count? Then loads of games with that pre 1980 or thereabouts.

No. The whole point of the R in OSR is that it's old games remade as new, not just old games played anew.
Currently running: Tyche\'s Favourites, a historical ACKS campaign set around Massalia in 300BC.

Certainly yes, lots of using the Osric or whatever material to play D&D with (or Mutant future and GW) for when we need extra books or such. Otherwise Adventurer, Conqueror, King, Beyond the Wall, Lamentations of the Flame Princess, Dungeon Crawl Classic, Stars Without Number.

Steven Mitchell

None.  For most of them, I think D&D Rules Compendium would be closer to what I want, and I've got that.

I do want to try DCC at some point, but it hasn't yet quite managed to bubble high enough on the games to play priority list.  It's made it to third choice on two separate occasions.  So it is only a matter of time.

DavetheLost

Labyrinth Lord
Beyond the Wall and Other Adventures
Mutant Future
Mutant Crawl ClassicsCrypts 7 Things
OpenQuest
the new Pacesetter system games from Goblinoid
Under the Moons of Soon
Mazes & Minotaurs

But mostly when I want Old School gaming I just play my old school games.

Oh wait... I have played Stars Without Number. :D Yeah, I mostly started buying OSR stuff because it's basically new material for older games. I'd like to try DCC though it's hard enough to find people who want to play D&D.

I've played/run Astonishing Swordsman and Sorcerers of Hyperboria.  That's the only OSR game I would consider applicable.

I've run tons of OSRIC content, but using the 1E AD&D rules.
