This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

What system would you use for a home brew game of....

Logan's Run (book or movie)?  Genesis II/Planet Earth?  The Star Lost?

A tweaked* Classic Traveller with Supplement 4 Citizens of the Imperium. Or a tweaked* Cepheus Engine.

*the tweaks would be to the tech.

S'mon

Logan's Run... Something semi-gritty but allowing for Teh Gonzo. Classic Traveller seems a good choice, but I'd probably go with Mutant Future. Or PARANOIA.

JeremyR

The Logan's Run TV show is better than the book or movie. At least for gaming. Basically the pilot was an abbreviated version of the movie, but instead of just finding an old dude with cats, Logan and Jessica wander around the post apocalyptic landscape on each additional episode. Kinda low budget, though not nearly as low as The StarLost.

But probably D6, though Traveller would certainly work. Depends if you want a more cinematic or realistic flavor.

A part of me would want to run Logan's Run with the Paranoia system.

I've never played Paranoia. What about that system makes it a fit? What edition?

I've only played 1st edition. Mostly the genre (Walled city, computer controlled population, runamuk robots) means that the Paranoia material covers a lot of the ground that a Logan's Run RPG would need.

I think Spectrum Games' Retrostar is intended for games based on those shows.

I get why you would say that but would it really? Mechanics to theme wise?

Definitely Traveller, possibly mixing and matching editions and resolution systems:).
Restricting the characters to 3 terms would be tough, however:D!

QuoteGenesis II/Planet Earth?
Atomic Highway or Barbarians of the Apocalypse;).

QuoteThe Star Lost?
EABAv2 actually has a similar setting, so maybe that one. Or maybe something like Fading Sun.

I'm pretty sure that Metamorphosis Alpha was directly inspired by The Star Lost.

Though actually, the system of the original was not really very good. I guess some hardcore old-schoolers might do it.
