This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Sine Nomine: Godbound - Anyone playing it?

I ordered the Deluxe edition of Godbound recently and it arrived the other day.

Anyone running this here?
It looks like OSR Exalted and I'm pretty excited to run it.
I'll be running a "Monkey/Journey to the west " type campaign where the characters are Demigods from the Chinese godlike pantheon and they have to get the Holy Bhuddist scriptures from India.

I also did a short Youtube overview to show off the quality of the Deluxe edition.

Sable Wyvern

I had plans to run it, but then I got inspired to do the Rolemaster overhaul I'd been contemplating for the better part of a decade.

Now it will probably end up being something I run in my occasional, secondary, off-week GMing slot once I get bored with Blades in the Dark.

I do think it's an excellent product, and look forward to eventually giving it a spin.

danskmacabre

I've been running LOTS of DnD 5e for quite some time now, but this year I want to regularly run Godbound, Stars without Number revised edition and get in some one off of Silent Legions.

Michael Gray

I'm not running it, but I own it and have played it. I think it does Exalted better than Exalted, frankly and I like the base setting too. We've hacked it up a few times, as well, to play a Warframe oneshot and an Age of Sigmar game or two.
Currently Running - Deadlands: Reloaded

muadib

Got it for my birthday, not running it, but hacked it for Exalted as well and it is an amazing resource. Fantastic work by Kevin Crawford.

danskmacabre

I got 4 players to commit to a 10 session mini campaign to loosely emulate the Monkey TV series.
Characters generated and starting next week for a midweek campaign :)

urbwar

I played in a one shot on Free RPG Day. I enjoyed it. I own it as well, but having no group at the moment means no one to play it with

RPGPundit

Nope. Don't have it, but it looks interesting.

I have the first session on the evening of the 23rd of January.
The first hour or so will just be character gen and an overview of the changes from the original version of SWN to the revision.

But the players played the original edition, so that should be ok.  I hope to get some actual gameplay in the same night.
I'll post my experiences of the evening here later after the session sometime.

Brand55

I'll be tied up with my current campaign for most of the rest of the year, but once that draws to a close the new SWN and Godbound are very high on the list of what I want to run next. I love the new character generation and progression in SWN, but I have a real soft spot for Godbound's awesome take on playing demigods.

With a new Masks of Nyarlathotep coming soon, though, there's no telling what my group will be in the mood for once I start looking to begin a new campaign. There are just too many good games out there and not enough time to play them all. I guess that's a good problem to have, all things considered.

I have the same problem.
I'll be running Godbound soon too (a recreation of the Monkey TV series).
Plus the picking up a SWN revision campaign.

I also run fairly regularly DnD 5e, but I think I'll be scaling that back a bit as I know someone who really wants to pick up his Call of Cthulhu campaign again (the new edition), which I want to play.

That and I REALLY want to run some old Stormbringer 2nd edition stuff as one offs for a laugh.

I don't think I'll be buying into anymore RPGs  this year, well apart from the Dark ages RPG Sine Nomine is picking up development of towards the end of the year.

Too many RPGs! It's a good problem to have mind!  :D

RPGPundit

Yeah, I've never had the time to run SWN.

Here's links to an overview of the character gen part and actual gameplay of SWN revised:

Session 1 - Gameplay

We played again last night, Session 2, which I'll be writing up next.
I'm running SWN revised every fortnight.

I have yet to write up the first Godbound session a couple of weeks ago, which was Character gen and Gameplay.
I'm running another session this Friday of Godbound.
I'll try to get them written up soon.

Gorilla_Zod

I'm a big fan of the Kevin. I've GM'd a few Godbound campaigns, but my guys don't like the default setting. My current Godbound plans are to start turning our current D&D PCs into semi-Godbound from levels 15-20 (they're currently level 2, so it's on the backburner) and I've blown-up the Arcem setting into the Arcem Galaxy for Stars Without Number, which is in our rotation. It doesn't feel nearly as grimdark on the galactic scale.
Running: RC D&D, 5e D&D, Delta Green
