Title: This Site is Unfriendly to Stupid People
Post by: Zalmoxis on December 09, 2006, 03:52:39 PM
Allow me a moment to rant about this site's rampant mistreatment of the stupid and ill-informed. Some of you people are really off the mark here. You take someone's stupid, idiotic and moronic comments and you treat them as though they are dumb and worthy of ridicule. Did you ever ask yourself why? Did you ever take a deep breath and think "this person might be stupid, but maybe they're even more dumb than that?" Where's your compassion for the mentally-challenged?

Stupid people might not be bright but they might be bright enough to know what the word stupid means and get their feelings hurt. What about the feelings? Don't feelings count too?

We're also unfriendly to thin skinned people. But if you really want to draw some ire, be one of those people that disagrees with people.

Don't judge our social skills by your neurotypical standards! Expecting others to automatically conform to your NT behavior is, at best, highly insensitive. I'll have you know that a large number of gamers suffer from neurobiological pervasive developmental disorders, and are unable to determine what is socially acceptable. I'm sure tolerating stupid people comes easily to some, but for many gamers posting an appropriate reply on a message board or even taking a bath with soap and hot water can be a very stressful ordeal.

You know, I've always found it funny, that "molestar a un niño" is NOT AT ALL like "molesting a child"... :D

Google says that means "to bother a boy." Are they right?

If I were you, I wouldn't tell that joke  in Texas. You're liable to get rednecked upside the head before you get the whole sentence said. :)

Yeah.  "Molestar", in Spanish, literally means "to bother".

Incidentally, so does "Tocarle musica rap a Dr Rotwang!".  It's the very definition of active, willful annoyance.  People cry at the end.

Está bien, la próxima vez que tenga ganas de molestar a alguien no voy a Texas. Voy a pasarle rap al Doctor Rotguango.

Damn you Google, why are you chasing him away from Texas!?

Of course, most things do in Spanish.

Which brings me to a question I've been meaning to ask for quite some time: What's so funny about penile decomposition?

(Okay, it could be "Dr. Rosycheeks", too. Which isn't neccesarily better)

Nothing.  And yes, it means "Rosycheeks"; why, I don't know, but Fritz Lang and Thea Von Harbou liked the name enough to use it for the mad scientist/wizard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotwang) in Metropolis, back in 1926:

Now, as regards the Spanish version -- why not Rotguapo?

Now that's about the crappiest translation I've read since my teacher back in Primary school gave us a version of "Imagine". I love translation software. They are so much fun.

And why not Doctor Rotguarango? I dare you to translate that one. :P

No, actually "guarango" it's quite Uruguayan slang. It's like a mixture of dumb and rude. The kind of people who like to do tits jokes.

I am a brand spanking new grunt to this forum. I was courting this site for a few weeks now and was sold by dialouge by various members that sounded realistic and down to earth. I could imagine talking and getting along with people offline where I couldn't on other websites. I like discussing a hobby with people who have unique tastes, wide area of interests, and don't sound like an infomercial for a particular brand.

Couldn't find a better place to introduce myself. I look forward to discussions on this forum.

Glad to have you! If you're completely perfect and/or have a thick skin you should last quite a while. :)

Luckily I have a thick skin... :D

Welcome to RPG Site Airlines, All Chemical! The flight attendant will show you the exits, and demonstrate use of the oxygen masks, which will automatically pop out if the Pundit sucks all the oxygen out with his pipe. Please don't use your mobile phone during takeoff or landing. We'll probably be experiencing some turbulence due to random colliding hot air masses from Uruguay and the Forge, so keep your seat restraint on and locked when warning is given.

Thank you and enjoy your flight with us! :D

Thanks for the warm welcomes. As long as I hear some open and different opinions, I can deal with steam in either direction. Without kissing too much ass as the new guy, I respect how people can talk about rpg but then come across as three-dimensional people on this site. "I enjoy rpg as a hobby but I also...."

Needless to say, I felt the fun and hobby aspect of rpgs on other sites was almost nonexistant. I don't really want to take rpgs and the industry as seriously as politics personally. Like I said in my initial post, most members sound down to earth and highly knowledgable on the hobby.

JOOC, shouldn't your handle be "Al Chemical" if you're going for a pun on alchemy, which is all I can see your handle being.

The next closest thing would be the nickname they gave to one of saddam hussein's henchmen, "chemical ali".

Actually it is a play on the opposite of "All Natural". Its just something I have used for various usernames in the past without giving it much thought anymore. You know I never saw the Al Chemical/Alchemical before....hmm would work that way also.

Ahhh, I see now, the "all natural" pun. OK I was just curious. Around here I would have expected the "al chemical: pun as a take on D&D or something.
