Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

So, today for no reason i can fathom, i suddenly can't access my googlemail account. Internet Explorer says that the site security certificate isn't correct or something. Never had a problem before.

I did notice, however, that there's something about my browser being updated to version 8.

Any tech-heads have any idea what i can do?

Well, for starters - use IE for it's true purpose, that is, downloading another web browser.

Jokes aside - a bit of a wild guess, but - go into the Properties of IE, and look for Security tab. Then fiddle with it for a bit. Your Security is probably set to Maximal for some reason (which means that almost no site will be considered safe).

Ha! What did it turn out to be?

My computers time & date setting defaulted back to 2005...

Presumably a major crash which it recovered from, but i didn't notice the settings changed - either that or we had a power cut last week.

Anyhoo, my PC was checking safety certificates for 2005 and gmail's didn't come online until 2010...

It took me downloading Firefox to find that out though - gave more info on why it wouldn't connect. Thus i could fix the problem!
