Okay, I'm going to assume that if you bother to respond to this thread you plan on staying here a while. You've stopped by, it's interesting, it's worth posting or at least reading.
As with Pooka, I'm curious about where you came from. Did you read about us in Mearl's or RPGPundit's blog? Are you a Nutkinlander Refugee? But I'm also curious as to why you want to stay. What keeps you interested? Why do you want to spend your time here?
There are several reasons I come here.
1) It's the first RPG forum I've found that isn't blocked from work. (Strangely enough, it WAS blocked for a while, but when the shift from TheRPGsite to Nutkinland happened, it got un-blocked.)
2) Lots of nice features. I think all gamers can find something here for them.
3) Loyalty to Nutkinland/Nothingland - I like the people and want to help their endeavors.
4) Somehow... amongst all the messageboards that popped up during NTL's interregnum, the RPG site stood out. It wasn't trying to take NTL's place. It was trying to be something new, something totally itself. There seemed to be something special about it. That's a good feeling for a website to have - something intangible. :)
Strangely, I agree with Name Lips! (Except on #1, which doesn't apply to me.)
I agree with Namelips on 2-4. I like the way this board is going and love the dialogue that's going on between faces both familiar and unfamiliar.

I like nuts?
The site does what I want, pretty much, in regards to a gaming forum (don't ask what else it could do, my wants are pretty nebulous. Except about nuts, I really want some of those.). There's enough to read to keep me entertained, and there's enough variation in viewpoints to make it worth reading, and give me new thoughts. There's stuff to read, ideas to steal, fools to laugh at (like me, if I ever get around to posting much. Whheee! :cheerleader:) and the style of moderation is something I can appreciate.
It's fun, in short.
NTL origin, if it matters...
See post number 3 for my answer.
I have nowhere else to go. :(

likely, because the "RPG" appeared in the url. that seems to do the trick at my job.

It's horrifying in some ways that ENworld keeps threads from... well... forever ago. I can't begin to envision how big their database files have gotten...
It was RPGPundit's essay where I first heard about Nutkinland.
I like it so far.

It's absurd... the least they could do is move threads with no activity for over a year into a separate archive folder or something. This is why they can't let people do searches.
I came for the new place to discuss RPGs in a non-EN environment. I stick around for the blogs.
To be honest, ever since the birth of the whole CRABS-SWINE thing, the site has become less appealing to me. However, T-Willard and DDrader both keep blogs here, and there are some other interesting happenings, so I won't let such nonsensical debating completely ruin my enjoyment of The RPG Site.
I am an RPG.net refugee and I stick around because I prefer the moderation model here. I think that every dumbass has the right to embarrass themselves in a public forum and the proper response should be a hail of insults, catcalls, and thrown garbage. Maybe this ideal is unworkable in any but a small-scale setting, but that is enough for me that it is being attempted here.
I was on NTL some time ago, then in Damnation Army etc. Was mostly offline for quite some time, and I never really liked the political talk of NTL & Co. – the discussions evolved too much into same old, same old posturing over time.
Saw a link at EnWorld that NTl was back up, called the "RPG site", just as I was getting my online presence reinstated. So far, I like it here, because there haven't been overlapping conflicts or extreme trollings/troll feedings (except maybe for Pundit), and even when it's there, it's about games.
Let's just say when I have the opportunity to talk about games, I'd rather not have the fucktard quota of other boards. And when I look at ENWorld's general forum, I see maybe a handful of threads I'm interested in, some of which are so overposted that it's almost useless to try and keep and as well as get a nice discussion going. When I look here, it's not that I see that many more interesting threads, but in comparison to how many threads there are at all, it's a much better quota, as well as more likely worth posting in.
I've been a regular regular member of Nutkinland, Damnation Army, that hippie site that was there for a while and Nothingland. I come with the fixtures. There will always be a SmokestackJones at these places. And that will be me.

I lurked the original NKL back in the day, hell, I might have even posted a few times. I certainly wasn't part of the community or anything but I'm still fond of the place. When I heard there was a new NKL, I came straight over! I suppose I should have registered as something other than Nikchick, and then I could rage around as an anonymous entity without having to deal with people associating me with my job. But whatever, I'm here and "out" now, and for lack of anything interesting ever happening on any of the general gaming boards I used to read, I'm plenty happy and amused to become a regular.

I knew about, and posted very occasionally on the previous incarnations of Nutkinland, and I've always liked it, and this current incarnation I like so much I don't even check out any other boards except the True20 forum anymore.
I come here as a NTL refugee, but I'm still somewhat active at ENWorld. Since this site started, I've mostly initiated threads here rather than there, though.
I stay here because the site has some fun arguments that mostly don't seem to devolve too much into Hypersmurfean minutia (nothing against Hyp, but stretching D&D rules to their silliest extents isn't something I do on a regular basis).
One of the nicest things for me, at least right now, is the random grab bag of people we have. Sure, there's a slight majority of people from former incarnations of the board, but there are a lot of people from all over the place. I like how all the new blood is sparking new conversations.
I especially like that the Forgites are here. While they *do* have an unhealthy fascination with soap opera, they aren't the baby-eating mouthbreathers I thought they were. They're downright interesting.
So is RPGPundit, when he's not too busy taking himself seriously. :p

I find that that applies to most people.

Seems to me I've been saying that for a while, now.

I like the idea of coupling serious discussion with the occasional thrown squeaky toy when people take themselves too seriously. It makes for interesting, dynamic threads. Plus, there aren't a bazillions posts and threads running around that I can't be bothered to keep track of. Admittedly, it's possible that NKL will keep growing until the posts start to fly everywhere, but I'm hoping it'll stay down to a manageable level.
Either that, or this place will eat my brains.

Doesn't that violate the Internet Code of Conduct?!?!?!?!!?!?
I'm trying to prevent boredom and insanity.
My own first, other second.
I'm selfish that way :p
But also cause I write games, and dream of writing more, and like to see what others thing, dream, say, do, believe, argue, discuss, pedant over, and so forth.
I'm here because this is where I heard the Spongebob porn was kept. So far, all I've found is Sandy Does Dallas.

Hi. I heard that RPG.net cunts were coming here, so I thought I should too. I always like to go where the cunts are.
I stopped visiting ENWorld a while back--the place had become too big for my tastes. When the NTL breakup occurred, I checked this place out. I don't have much to contribute, but I like to read up on things and keep updated on general gaming stuff, and I think this place is open and friendly enough should I ever need to bounce some ideas off of people.
I may not post much, but I'll be around.

No - Snow Eel is a long time poster from Australia who called people cunt all the time. We miss him. Calling someone a 'cunt' must be a term of endearment in Australia I guess. :heh:

Well, Name Lips and Cyberzombie said it pretty well, too. I'm loyal to my friends, and I enjoy listening to (er, reading...but you know what I mean) and discussing game stuff. Plus, I get weary of fighting in the arena all the time about political and religious stuff, so it's nice to get in a different arena and fight about game stuff!:)
On another level though, EN-World is still fun, but I get weary there of *always* being required to avoid saying anything about A, B, or C. Moderation can preserve a positive environment, but such controls can also become stifling and feel like I'm being treated like I'm in Kindergarten. I can get bored and frustrated hanging around my own "grandma" in real life for the same reasons that I don't always enjoy hanging out in an environment where I'm with a "cyber-grandma" too. Here, even if my precise conversational style, topical discussion and personal interaction is little different from my conduct on EN-World, I find it *refreshing* that if I change the subject a bit, choose to colour some of my arguments with people that are fucking morons or argue some pathetic nonsense to me, I have the freedom to do so!:)
And the new site, with the new focus, while being different from earlier versions, and remaining different from other sites, is just cool. It's unique in its own way, and I also get to hang out with old friends and new.:)

Being a member of all the various incarnations , you can apply mostly all the arguments , already presented here to me. (Save for the "not-blocked-from-work"-issue , since my job is kinda "computer.free"...)
Plus : It's nice to read game-related stuff by SHARK and King Stannis without having their socio-political ramblings , elsewhere on the site , cast a shadow over it.
I think they'd make for a great gaming group , if RL-politics could be left outside....

I was fucking invited, that's why I'm here.
Actually, that sums it up. I've been banned because of my foul mouth and nasty attitude from a lot of places. Top it off with Pooka offered me a design diary/blog and I lept at the chance.
Plus, he told me he wouldn't censor the blog too badly.
So, I was fucking invited, and plan to stay till the beer is gone.

I'm here via NTL. The game dicussions over there were always better than the standard faire at ENW (the only other game site I've ever bothered to join and participate). Plus, where else are we going to get to see some of the more (in)famous banned folk on the net talk about gaming?

You have a job? What kind of gamer are you?!!
:heh:
I am here because I like to check out all forums about roleplaying. I like lively and interesting conversations, as far as I'm concerned, rpg books are just a bunch of rules for a lively and interesting conversation where everyone tells tall stories.
This joint's looking okay so far. We'll see in a while once it really gets going. A few arbitrary bans (they're all arbitrary until you get some rules, and any forum with more than a couple hundred members always ends up with some rules or other) and a few frequent posters here and there will set the tone for the place, and then we'll see.
I'm a refugee. I like most of the refugees and like chatting with y'all. I'm not around much because the decomming of NTL came at a time when I was being forced to reduce my on-line time, anyway.
I was a member of the original Nukinland and they have been trying to get rid of me ever since. I miss my Rainbow Randell and Nazi Living Dead Girl!

The rules are simple. The admins let you do whatever until you start doing things that annoy them and make the place less fun for them. Then they curb stomp you.
The admins give warnings, though, 'cause they hate to have to lace up their combat boots.
Well, the koi fish says that Pooka guy has a boner for the ban-hammer, so be careful.

I came here from El-Remmens Ratbastard DM board.
Came here first, saw that it was populated by people banned at other places and thought "I don't need no bunch of whiners".
Came back occasionally for El-Remmens storyhour repostings, got bored, looked at the boards and decided to stay.
Things to like:
It's a nice contrast to EN World. You really can't compare the two and they actually complement each other.
The atmosphere is great, almost no whiners and people that take themself to serious. And those that are here are just another source of fun as everyone piles around them with popcorn (or they get Mahna Mahna'ed).
The total eclectic mix of various gamers.
The absurd hillarity of the S.W.I.N.E. and C.R.A.B. war.

And of course the muppet love.

I needed a place to blow off work and when EN World dropped, I discovered that Nothingland had a new incarnation.
I'll probably still spend more time over there when it comes back, but will drop by here when I'm in the mood for a little more "lively" discussion.
Nice to have options.
I was around for one of the previous incarnations for awhile, then lost track during one of the changes. Just came back towards the start of the swine/crab war. Enjoying threads with content, ultra powered mod's who are open in thier requirements for amusement, the whole thing.
