SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Reposting other story hours

Question:
Would it be all right to repost story hours from ENworld? I have them saved to my hard drive because I thought they were so much fun to read, and I think it might help kick-start the story hour forum.

Full credit to original authors, of course.
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

We think that you should have the original author's express consent, because it is their story. We feel it would be even better if you could convince those authors to come and repost their stories here.

A reasonable ruling, Eshu, though I don't know if they're active on the boards much any more.

Specifically I had in mind Piratecat's story hour and Sepulcrave II's story hour. If someone could be a love and get me their email addresses from ENworld, I'll ask them for permission.

I can't access ENworld from work, which is one of the reasons I want to repost them here. If ENworld is blocked for me, who knows how many other people can't get at it from work, and might end up here?

I guess I can understand if they withhold their permission, too, if they see therpgsite as a competitor with ENworld and want to remain loyal to their roots. I personally think all RPG sites should work together, and spread the good stuff around as much as possible, but what do I know?

Just get their emails for me and I'll ask them myself. Maybe they'll agree.

You are responsible for your posts. If you post someone else's work it is a violation of copyright law unless you secure their permission. If they pursue any legal action I'll be sending them your way.

From now on when I use this color and bold you can be certain I'm not doing my pooka lies schtick and that I'm speaking clearly.
