Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Reason for editing?

I just got asked by the system for a reason why I was editing a post, and then it put that reason in the italicized note at the bottom of my post.

Just wondering what triggered this, because I've never seen it before.

In my experience with vBulletin is has to with whether or not someone else has already read your post. If no one has read it so far, you don't have to fill in a reason because it doesn't change things for anyone else.

However, if someone else has already read your post you get that little note with the date of the change at the bottom. This is to make changes more trackable and to avoid sudden complete changes of statements without anyone noticing. (E.g., at 0800 you call someone an Swine. At 0810, someone complains about it. You could now go to change that at 0815 and claim that you never wrote that. However, as seen with the "edited 0815" note, the post has been change after the complaint so that there are traces of something unkosher.)

When I write "TDE", I mean "The Dark Eye". Wanna know more? Way more?

Could be, but if so then the feature has only recently been implemented. I've often gone back & edited posts that I'm sure people have read--not to change the content, just to add incidental things or fix spelling.

EDIT: just for fun let's try editing this post.

I've never seen that pop up on this forum's version of vbulletin's settings - only when I'm editing my posts  on the SJG forums or the Big Purple & pink.

Huh, I was able to edit my last post above without being prompted. I guess it was just a glitch or a function of how many times I used the "preview post" button, which was a lot on that post.
