Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Missing thread?

I posted to a thread where some people were talking with (or challenging) Levi over the differences between here and RPG.net. It seemed to start out a bit rough but regardless of whether it was in the bounds of acceptable discussion here, I'm wondering: where the heck is it? Was the thread deleted?

Mr. Christopher

Why are there so many songs about rainbows and what\'s on the other side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions, and rainbows have nothing to hide.

Yes, thanks! So now the questions is: why didn't it turn up in a search? This is a real problem if you get into the habit of reading by clicking the New Posts link, because then you tend not to notice which subforum a given thread came from.

I had that problem to. For a different thread. I was trying to dig up what thread I was talking about chases with with Balbinus. Did a search for a post by me with the term "chase". No results.

But it seems to be working now.

Well, that thread still doesn't come up if I search on "rpgnet", which is a word in one of my posts to it.

Hopefully this can be fixed. Another thing I like about this site vis a vis RPGnet is that it has a genuinely functioning (well, except for the bug) and up to date search function.

RPGPundit

I'm not certain, but I think it might be because this "thread" is actually on the "article comments" section, which might not be included in the search function?

If you go to Advanced Search, you can specify which subforum you want to search. However, Article Comments isn't listed there. Maybe that's part of the problem?

I think you're both right. So can this be forwarded to whoever maintains the software (forgetting the name right now)?

If I'm not mistaken, Pooka is no longer working on the site, and the esteemed Mr. Gruff is the guy with his hands in the icky machine bits.

Pooka and Gruff are both still part-time troubleshooters for the tech side of things, as is Varaj.

So should I shoot them a PM or is the normal protocol to just complain here and assume that an admin will take it up with them?

jrients

I think bitching here is probably the best way to get things done.  That way all the admins see what is going on.
