This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've heard a rumor that there's been some complaints regarding certain user features being restricted by post count.  When I put this into place I figured it would make for a fun feature to have around.

So I ask, are folks having fun with this or should it be modified? Any items that should be unrestricted by level?  Please let me know.

Possibly PM's, especially to the mods and admins.

I think that's probably a good idea. Otherwise, I like it. It makes sense to reward participation.

I'm personally having fun.  But then, for me, the experience of the message board is the other folks and the content of the board and not so much whether we have big avatars or a rep system, or anything else.

I like a lot of the people that have contibuted over the last week and that is enough to keep me here for the time being.  Everything else, like the games with the levels, is just gravy and makes the fun experience a little more so for me.

I don't see the point really with a forum dedicated to problems like that.  I think the layout is interesting so far, and the idea of earning various things is interesting.  That'll change when we all have and do everything, but it's keeping this place interesting right now.

I'd stick to the core philosophy and keep the uniqueness.  This place isn't for everyone, and just because a few grumble, it shouldn't be changed.

The reason I say that is because sometimes you may not want to post your question or compaint in public for everyone to see.

I don't like the idea that immature posters will postwhore to get them.
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

Here's a question: If a newbie (I define a noob as someone who hasn't had Private Messages activated yet. :)) clicks the name of an administrator, is the option to send a PM disabled?

That'd be a neat compromise I think. It'd leave them the ability to communicate with the community leaders which could be useful. Everything else remains gravy.

It's not a big deal to me personally. Just...thinking aloud.

YEah I mentionbed something like this.  Not sure if something that specific concerning PM's is possible though.  It seems like it would be though.

I think that a "PM to admins and mods" should be available to all, though discouraged unless it's private/important - everything else goes in meta. Otherwise, I like the earning the shiny toys.

I can't think of a problem that would need to be private to a mod that couldn't be reposted in public as long as everyone is behaving.  And if someone isn't, can't they just report the post?

I like it , the way it is.
And getting my goodies , without resorting to post-whoring can be a bit of a challenge.

Reefer Madness

I like it, but ii think pm's to admins and mods is a good idea as well...but on the other hand it may keep their mail boxes cleared out some from noob questions and such...
