This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Ok, who here is interested in running a column once per week.  I'd like to have at least one column for Monday, Wednesday and Friday to start.  Monday will be game designer interviews - the others I'm open as to what they would be about. Any proposals?

Knightcrawler

Some suggestions possibly a spotlight on a game publisher, but that could seem to much like crass advertising.  Not sure.

Spotlight on a particular setting, this would probably be better for a monthly article as the it could be long and too often would run us out of settings to write about.

Problem really is that I can't really think of anything that would give us a large enough pool that would allow us to do it weekly.

No publisher specific interviews - I'm interested in people, not organizations.  An article about Green Ronin - no.  An article on Chris Pramas - yes.

Maddman

I'd be most interested in GMing advice/tips type of articles, especially ones that could be applied to many different games.  I could even write a couple I imagine, if you'd like.
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

I could write some articles, but I'm affraid I can commit to one very week. Maybe a monthly or biweekly article. A series of world building articles with a mix of how to stuff and maybe tips from the pros. I might be able to get a certain web lurking small publisher to chip in an interview type of article for world building tips and such. This would be mostly generic world building to be used with no particular system.

BillyBeanbag

I might suggest an open call for articles to develop a stockpile of them, from there pursue those you want to write again. Thereby through the selection process, improving the quality of posted materials.

YMMV.

I'll echo the beanbag's suggestion. And, incidently, you might want to make a thread about it at another world you know well. Hoping the little crisis has deflated enough. Because there are a lot of game designers there, while here it's still a bit new.

That sounds like a really good idea. Get as high quality stuff as possible that way.

has there been any thoughts of having a staff reviewer or two for the reviews section? I would be all over that!  :D

Knightcrawler

Same here.  I'll be getting at least Power of Faerun later this month so I'll do a review of that.

I'm more of a non-d20 player so I will review mostly non-d20 stuff. I do play D-20 but don't buy a lot of it.

HinterWelt

I de-cloak to say I would write generic world type stuff much like Mike suggested.

Just my opinion, but I agree articles about companies or thinly veiled propaganda should not be allowed. Also, I really could care less about the "celebs" of the game industry. I would rather see more articales about peoples takes on world building, system mechanics, and yes, even the marketing/sales/business strategies of the companies;i.e. how it all works, than the inner workings of Gary Gygax's mind.

As stated by others, I doubt I could write one a week but would be up for monthly.

So it works out in the end.  :D

As in the past couple of years I haven't done anything except d20 games.

What says everyone concerning doing these on a monthly schedule instead of a weekly one.  We'd need 4 columns instead of 3, but they'd be turned in on a monthly basis instead of weekly.

That seems to work a little bit better at this point.
