Three factors come into play here:
1. What BD had said and BD's attitude toward the site before getting his/her own forum.
2. The quality of BD's posts on here.
3. What BD him/herself claims.

In this case, Number 1 is pretty damning, number 2 is in question (a number of posters seemed to feel that BD is just posting "filler" to draw attention to the sig), but BD took the time to answer number 3 calmly (more calmly than some others on this thread).  So as of right now, I'm inclined to accept BD's word.

Dude, I ALREADY SAID that I have NO PROBLEM with people putting other forums/sites on their sig, whether they own it, or just think its neat.  I'm all for the proliferation of gaming fora (preferably ones that aren't fucked up by the Swine... but that's neither here nor there for the purposes of this conversation).

I just don't want there to be a rash of people who are basically only here to spam/shill for another site. IF that's all someone is doing, then that's no different than someone spamming for a viagra webpage, penny stocks, or italian porn.

And yet the regular spammers are easy to spot. There's no question about them.

So, let that be your guideline: if you're not sure if they're just here to shill, then they probably aren't. No need for this sort of thread.

Not that my opinions matter much here, but if I could make a suggestion: if there is a question of a poster's motives or behavior, I'd try to hash it out via PM's first.  If that proves inconclusive, then these Public Notice threads may be in order.  Generally I do like being informed as to what Pundit's thinking is as far as admin actions, but these calling out threads do tend to become witch-hunts (and that's not an RPGsite problem, its an internet problem).

None of which are definitive. If someone posts an advertisement for Cialis, clearly they're spamming. Outside of that and psychic powers, how would you really know if someone was spamming? Moreover, if the "zen" of this site is unfettered discussion, then it seems to me that the moderators should be pretty darn certain a person is spamming before taking action (which would include, to my mind, a public post such as this one).

The problem with psychic moderation is that if it's the standard, everyone will begin to report posts based on guesses and assumptions rather than what actually happened...

Regarding Blue Devil's comments on another site, I think his/her reaction to posters like Nox can be expected from most sane people. If ThrRPGsite is to be a haven for such posters, we can expect similar posts from many people. It comes with the territory.

Regarding Blue Devil as a spammer, I understand what Pundit is trying to get at here, and even suspect that his reservations about Blue Devil may well be mostly correct, BUT I do not know this for a fact. Since I don't know, I am willing to give him/her th benefit of the doubt.

That is what it all really comes down to. We can't really know Blue Devil's motives. Maybe he/she is simply a low content and high volume poster with a sig(and she would not be the only one), or she is a "SUPER SECRET SPAMMER." We can't tell, and trying to call people out like this will just start a snipe hunt.

If such inquiry must be done, I would politely request Pundit conduct such inquiries by PM.

Which is exactly what the RPG Pundit has said and for some reason this thread continues.   I am not a spammer and I made that clear.  

The other point RPGPundit talked about has been clear.  Personally (I am not a mod, I cannot make that discission) I think this thread should be locked and allowed to die.

As I said I am not a spammer.   I have tried to improve my posts so they have more content and contribute more.
