SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've noticed for some reason that the RPG Site seems to have increasingly longer load times-now keep in mind I'm discussing fractions of seconds, and seconds here, as I have a mind shatteringly fast connection to the interwebs. But it seems like this site has become increasingly difficult to load.

What I'm wondering, is this at my end, or has anyone else experienced this?

YES, I have noticed this.

Although on my cmputer's version of hings I think it depends on the day of the week and how much traffic is going on.

Sorry, if that doesn't help  - but at least you know you're not alone on noticing this. Heck yesterday it took "FOREVER" for any website t load on my computer. Today , on the other hand, almost every website is coming up in its window much quicker.

I seem to experience this issue at certain times of the day...nothing consistent, though.  Sometimes I have to refresh once or twice to get a page to come up, other times a page loads up instantly.  Not nearly as bad as trying to browse anything on tBP, however.

Sometimes it takes quite some time after "submit reply". That's why I triple-posted once the other day - I thought it was my laptop rather than the site itself, and hit the button a couple more times.

Really? And here I was proud of how quickly theRPGsite usually loads compared to RPG.net, where especially lately it seems that their pages will often just lock up completely.

Anyways, Brett, have you got anything to say about this? Anything we could do to speed up the load times?

I don't know how the site compares to RPGnet, having never posted there.

Load times for opening a thread, or creating/replying to a thread is a couple of seconds for me, but I am on DSL so some lag is inherent. I will check tomorrow from the high speed at work and see if I get the same lag rates.

I had a server error just now posting a reply to the Extrasolar Images thread in off-topic.  The reply posted, but it didn't show up as newest post when I re-loaded the Off-Topic index page...weird.

Not sure if it's related, but none of my subscribed threads are showing up green on any index page, either.

I have performed some routine maintenance on the database and made some cutbacks and switched to alternate methods for some functions. We'll see what happens.

Thank goodness.  I've almost completely stopped reading anything on RPG.NET because it takes hours to load each page.  I'd hate for that to happen here.
