So, let's say that i wanted to create a publishing imprint. I've come up with some names. Which one do you prefer?
Double U Productions - logo of two overlapping U's. Making a W, which is my last initial
White Cliff Games - logo of white cliffs of Dover showing it is English and White is my surname
Shattered Lamp - a reference to the Shelley poem. I grew up a mile from where he lived, so the name has been with me all my life. Logo of a...shattered lamp!
Farrier Games - an oblique reference to my online handle, horseshoe logo
Telescope Games - just 'cos. Logo of, you guessed it
got to be shattered lamp mate its the best of the bunch.
Shattered Lamp is most evocative!
I like Shattered Lamp, its just sounds more interesting.
Hopeless cause, but I like White Cliff. Shattered Lamp is also worthwhile, easy to remember.
Heh, picked Shattered Lamp. That just has the better sound too it out loud to me.
Shattered Lamp but why not just One Horse Town games ?

I can't see it as being that pleasing on a cover.
I went with White Cliff Games - nice, short words; and it can be conveniently and unambigiously abbreviated to WCG.
The others use just 2 words and run so rather into the risk of being already occupied as an abbreviation.
What certeinly wouldn't work for foreigners as me is "Double U Productions", as the term "double-u" has been constanly used by media to refer to a certain infamous US president, and is so negatively connotated (unlike anglophone countries, where double-u is just a commonly used term for a letter).
Plus, two overlapping U's as a logo might remind people of the McDonalds logo, what would certainly let at least me think of cheapness (not in the positive way of "good prices", rather in the way of "worthless junk").
Well, it looks like if i go down this route, it will be as Shattered Lamp. :)
Shattered Lamp for sure.

How about
The Horse You Rode In On Games? :)

Ha, ha! That made me chuckle. :D
I chose White Cliff Games. I don't know if you're near Dover, but I know you're from the United Kingdom and it sounds appropriate to me.
Shattered Lamp is cool. I like Telescope too.
Shattered Lamp reminds me of the time I played DnD for three days straight after a nasty hurricane in North Carolina. That was some of the best gaming during a time when we had no technological conveniences, only dice and our imaginations.
Well, i got confirmation yesterday that Cubicle 7 is interested in taking things further regarding printing Stone Horizons under a 3rd party publishing agreement. Now i just have to finish it, get final approval (see if they are as interested in the final product as they are in the sections they have read) and then hash out the details.
So, you never know, you might just see a couple of Shattered Lamp books on the shelves before too long!
Shattered Lamp all the way.
