SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

One Horse Town

The dispossessed remnants of civilisation roam what is left of a world ripped apart by an apocolypse in the fairly recent past. The trappings of civilization have gone - cities are crumbled ruins, fertile land is ash and rivers are spare dribbles in their beds. The great churches and magical institutes are gone, learning is a matter of uncovering the secrets of the past. Kingdoms are reduced to rag-tag convoys of those still living, travelling the land so that they may live. Kings and Emperors hold court among the dung-heaps and tents of their people - never able to stay in one place for long before resources run out.

These primitive cavalcades try to cling to the civilisation they lost - Prelates instil Faith in the masses, Mage-Protectors have Aparition Duels with rivals, Prospectors find resources, Heralds hold the Rattlesticks, from which are suspended relics from the past to show the Vagabond King's importance. Pathfinders search the land and Warriors and Knights uphold what little law and order is left. Meetings with rivals might involve a stand-off while the relative values of their Rattlesticks are calculated, or result in Aparition Duels to decide right of passage or ownership. However, some kingdoms have reverted to Barbarism, preying on whoever they find.

The cataclysm has left monsters behind in its wake - dangers left for a dispossessed population.

Find new lands and resources, improve your Kingdoms resources and standing, find new technology and magical rituals, hope that there is somewhere safe.

The main problem with government is the difficulty of pressing charges against its directors.

Given a choice of two out of three M&Ms, the human brain subconsciously tries to justify the two M&Ms chosen as being superior to the M&M not chosen.
