Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Prepping a small regional map and some dungeons for my cousin and her husband. This will be their first Dungeons and Dragons experience so I want to go back to how I first started and set them off in a small town and workout from their. So I basically just mapped out a small region (which I ripped from a campaign setting I working on for the network system). Looking for more cool stuff to add. Here is what I have so far:

They are in a place called the Perlova Valley. Inhabited mostly by two groups of humans: Agars and Slovars. Both settled the region about 700 years ago as colonists from a cluster of city states in the south (these were all overun ages ago). In the intervening centuries the humans of Perlova have paid tribute to different powers nearby and been something of a buffer region. Presently to the two major powers are the Gru (a group of neanderthal like humanoids from the north) and the Caelum Empire (an advanced Orcish civilization). The Agars have formed an agreement with general Brogustu of the Caelum Empire, whereas the Slovars decided to back the Gru (only to be attacked and defeated by General Brogustu's forces).

Starting to populate with kobolds, orcs, orgres, etc. This area was the site of a monkey-man culture thousands of years ago, so many of their temples and ruins are a solid source of adventure. right now the only major dungeon I have worked out is for a group of kobolds who were the slaves of general Brogustu but fled to some caves near Agorta (stealing some valuable personal items from their master before leaving). Trying to keep things a bit simple and easy for them as this is their first experience with the game.

Using a 2d10 random encounter table for the area and it incudes everything from brownies (which are infesting the human settlements) to Naga and patrols of Caelum orc soldiers.

The players will be from Agorta, an Agar settlement in the north. Some Caelum orc tribunes will be there to ensure the local council and preisthood stays loyal to their general.

Yeah, same thing as Storm. Can't wait to hear more about your game.

They made a ranger a a cleric, found a fighter to tag along and tracked down the kobolds (who were being led by a trog deserter from the caeum army) hiding in a ruined monkey man temple complex. Because kobolds in thissetting are mostly just the house slaves of caelum orcs they a numberof them surrendered early on, but the trog and his goblin body guards put up more of a fight. The ranger almost died trying to capture the trog, but the cleric cast entangle and things went smooth from there.
