SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Why I Despise the Modern "Protest" Movement

Quote from: Insufficient Metal;466750I agree with the motivation behind the protest, but I think their execution reeks of entitlement. Witness the girl who got stopped by the cops, started shrieking "don't touch me!" and then concocted a hysterical lie about it to try to drum up drama.

Well in the UK they would have beaten her to death with truncheons although subsequently in a full blown coroner's report the police responsible would have been found guilty of excessive force and suspended

Or they would have pulled cerebral palsy victims out of wheelchairs.
Or hit and kill innocent bystanders from behind.
Or kettle children for 8 hours without even access to a toilet.
Or charged children on horseback.
Or lied to people doing nothing more than standing in a shop then subsequently break their promise and arrest them, strip searching 15yo kids.
Or do Murdoch's bidding while murdered children have their phones hacked by scumbag ghoul journalists.

Damn. I thought the US police was bad. The UK is a tiny country and it lets all this crap happen?

Wait, are you claiming that Sky News and Fox Broadcasting is responsible for cases of police brutality in the UK?
"Meh."

The UK has become a giant shithole unfortunately, heading the way of the US. It's all a giant race to the bottom and if people don't protest we'll get there much sooner.

Nope. Though nothing about the Murdoch empire would surprise me.

In response to the OP I mean. Some kids at NYU stage a ridiculous protest, Pundit gets a rant in.

What would you protest?

How would you protest it?
"Meh."

No but they do hack the phones of missing persons and delete messages that could indicate they are now murder victims.

Algedly.

I want an end to capitalism and specifically our current unelected undemocratic crew of spineless money grubbing savages.

What I would do is what I do do: what I can.

I don't profess to have all the answers (though there are very simple solutions to the current myth of financial turmoil, most starting with the letter T and ending in ax dodging). But I don't need to in order to know that things have to change before we all end up in the workhouse.

Specifically? Who knows as of yet. Though they are hardly bastions of good and impartial journalism. Sky certainly is the most ridiculous news organ full of Murdochian mouthpieces.

But the news of the world is owned by News International headed by the former editor of the latter and is itself owned by Murdoch, the pope of cunts.

That sounds like some completely stupid reasons to organize a protest to me.

#1 on my peeve list is the wordpress spammers that insist on spamming my blogs with their sales links... I'm getting about 80 new comments a week now that are simply junk mail spam ads. Fortunately across my websites it's moderated so the comments aren't posted unless they get approved.

Building a great .htaccess block file out of it, and eventually they'll run out of websites to post comments from. About half come from the US... The rest China, Brazil, Bosnia, Spain, Hungary, Africa. Some of the spammers even have the balls to post "Sorry, I need to eat", in their messages along with their spam ads.

If they really needed to eat, I'd be happy to setup a website for them that accepts all major credit cards, provided, of course, they have some actual products to sell or resell, and don't end up giving all their income to a third party manufacturer in yet another country. All they would have to do is asked.

Instead, they try to bury my quiet little gaming and business websites with their trash links. Too bad for them...
