SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

When Did RPGs Become the Provence of Liberals and Failed Novelists?

Quote from: RPGPundit;718054"social justice warrior".  Personally, I prefer to use the term Pseudoactivist. The former is far too flattering, and doesn't the capture the fundamental quality of these guys, as opposed to some real-life activists out there, which is that the Pseudoactivists are faking it, far more interested in appearances and being seen than anything important.

Thanks for the clarification :)
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

To address the question: Day one.

You do realise that a certain Gary Gygax was a staunch libertarian, right? In light of this fact, could you please elaborate on how RPGs were the provence of liberals since "day one"?
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

Maybe he wasn't a "liberal" but have you tried reading his novels?

Do you feel the need to discuss the difference between a libertarian and a liberal? If you do-you don't need my permission. I hope you don't mind me taking a nap on that.

The Ops reference of Liberals and failed novelist under the same umbrella, suggests discontent (which was the theme I believe), or more than a political statement-that is unless "failed novelist" is a new political term or party I'm unaware of.

In other words, what my statement meant was that which the OP feared and disliked about RPGs has been there since the beginning. And why shouldn't be? People who look for ways to attach their discontent to something-very often succeed...

I shall start a Failed Novelist party.

Our goals will be mandatory eating of asparagus at breakfast, subsidiares for printing presses and publishers, lowering of duty tax on alcohol and tobacco (for obvious reasons), legalisation of drugs and absinthe and tax breaks for writers, coffee houses and pubs.
Furthermore, I consider that  This is Why We Don\'t Like You thread should be closed

Pffft, I'm sure you will just be another "modal" Failed Novelist. ;)

Many moderate people would respect your stand on asparagus, but what is this extremist nonsense about lowering taxes?

Oh, I just put that in for a joke.

Really, we hit a low at the novel joke, but you should be ashamed of yourself.

Me shame? Never, as a matter of fact someone just accused me of "ego much?" in the FB RPG group. :)

You do realize roleplaying started before Gygax , right?

Anyways, I'm liberal and libertarian. I just mean those words to mean what they actually mean, not the definitions Fox News comes up with.

Jesus Fucking Christ, is this guy honestly that goddamned stupid? He can\'t understand the plot of a Star Wars film? We\'re not talking about "Rashomon" here, for fuck\'s sake. The plot is as linear as they come. If anything, the film tries too hard to fill in all the gaps. This guy must be a flaming retard.  --Mike Wong on Red Letter Moron\'s review of The Phantom Menace
