SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

The Magic Deer is Smoke-a-phobic!

First, from Rubio:

"In the brand spanking new True20 pdf, the beastiary contains a
10th-level supernatural beast entry titled Deer, Magic. It has pretty nutty stats, tons of supernatural powers, and the information block states that it is an "intelligent supernatural being of great wisdom and compassion" and that they have "an unfriendly attitude toward anyone bringing fire into their territory; this includes any sort of smoking along with matches, torches, campfires, and so forth".
Now, they didn't explicity say anything about pipes, and maybe I'm just reading too much into this, but I think the people at GR don't like you that much.
Been reading your blog for awhile. I sure as hell don't see eye to eye with you on everything, and I probably veer dangerously close to what you'd refer to as a pork product. I have to say you're an opinionated, conceited jackass, but you're an informed and intelligent opinionated, conceited jackass. Keep it up
."

Also, Sion writes:

"Just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I enjoy your site. As an ex-swine I need to be kept on my toes (trotters?) to prevent
backsliding.
Green Ronin has jsut released the new True20 pdf to those who purchased the original and while looking it over I realized it contained a grave threat to your life and thought to warn you.
In the Adversaries section there are stats for the Magic Deer and it has made you its target! Don't smoke in the forest!
"Unlike its mundane counterpart, the rare magic deer is an intelligent supernatural being of great wisdom and compassion. They live in (and protect) unspoiled woodland areas. Magic deer have an unfriendly attitude toward anyone bringing fire into their territory; this includes any sort of smoking along with matches, torches, campfires, and so forth. They use their various supernatural powers to drive out intruders without harming them."
Be careful
!"

Thank you both for this "warning"; I should note that as well as this unusual development, Nikchick's blog has a lovely picture of a magic deer today, with no added commentary. I am not worried, The +5 Flaming Keystrokes of Truth have kicked the magic deer's ass time and again, and will continue to do so.

But it does really amuse me, this obsession Nikchick and her company have with little old me.  Like my buddy Alejo said, "they're a company, and you're just one man". But it seems like my very presence is enough to send Nikchick and co. into conniption fits. Apparently they don't realize that every time they do something like this, it only adds to my recognition.  So I thank her.

Also, it would appear that the magic deer isn't particularly "wise" after all, since anyone with a brain could tell you that controlled fires are the best possible way to prevent the devastation of uncontrolled forest fires. Most aboriginal cultures (you know, the ones that suburban leftists like Nikchick love to pretend to admire and respect?) knew that.
Now that you mention them, I also love the idea of a psychotic smoke-o-phobic magic deer going apeshit on a tribe of peace-loving noble indians for the crime of lighting up a peace pipe or burning a tobacco offering.

Apparently the Magic deer isn't so much the product of unspoilt wilderness as he is the product of 21st century northamerican urban socialist tunnel-vision. But then, we already knew that, didn't we?

Anyways, its a fine thing when two new Proxies write to me, regardless of the reason. Welcome aboard, gents!
