So long as nobody actually SINGS Black Metal can be delightfully orchestral. I'm still not seeing any drawbacks :D
Mr. Analytical:
Metal's always better without singing (except for the drunking gurning on "Matthew Hopkins" by Cathedral) from Neurosis to Lustmord to Sunn((0) or however the fuck it is you write it.
I think the thing that would bother me about Scandinavia is the food (I hear it really is frightful from people who've been), the language and the fact that at the end of the month the government takes all your money and leaves you with enough money to buy not much more than a packet of sweeties and some army men.
The people are quite pretty though, even if I am worried about your claim that they all look like blonde Gimlis. I assume you mean because they have beards, not because they're all short because that would be trippy.
Yes, Scandinavian people tend to rarely reach taller than 5 feet. This is a secret kept from the rest of the world. The long-legged swedish babes you see in your countries are in fact a Janissary cast drawn from kidnapped southern europeans.

I've not met a tall scandanavian male yet. Tall men of scandanavian descent yes, but not any natives.
My theory is the tall women, behind closed doors, run some sort of 'Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS' matriarchal society and the men are sort of, oompa loompa sex slaves.

I'm glad you left Canada, because it sounds like wherever you were in Canada was an odd place. I'm glad where you are in Uruguay is a good place.
All of the ills you talked about didn't occur in many place in North America though.
I played SLA industries under a member of a Fraternity at University in the 90's.
I played D&D at a University in the 90's with just as many women as men. It was part of a public, university supported gaming group.
I helped teach a friend of mine's wife to play D&D during the 90's. They met via gaming.
Never had any problems with cat piss men, furries, etc...
RPGPundit:
You've been lucky, then.
