SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

"Tabletop gaming has a white male terrorism problem"

Quote from: Piestrio;889711I don't know. It certainly sounds good but it reeks of "collective sin" which is generally good for nothing but justifying all sorts of evil.

Certainly people, as individuals have a responsibility to stand up to bad behavior but to turn this into some free floating guilt and collective misdeed is to fundamentally mistake the map for the territory.

And potentially turn into a witch hunt. One only has to check out the virtue signalling contest and the tendency to "eat their own" over at TBP to see the seeds of that.
The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Yep, which is why I demanded independently verifiable evidence or get the fuck out. Results were predictable.

The Malifeux affair? A fraudulent narrative. Much like another I've seen, down to the same refusal to engage authorities when a criminal offense is alleged- which, of course, has to be documented as a matter of public record and thus can be reviewed later. Predictable shaming response has occurred; I don't care.

Not surprised to see the Cthulhu Cultists go about their Ia Ia routine again. They're frightened about their irrelevance, and are using virtue signalling as their means to scare their way back into control.

I don't believe a game store employee said, "old enough to bleed, old enough to breed" to a 13 year old girl. Guys say these kinds of things, but to each-other after a few beers, not to an actual young girl in the sober light of day. And if there are at least 3 guys there, someone always says, very seriously, "dude, too far."

As was said before, women get plenty of harassment and sexism, especially in a hobby dominated by socially-awkward males, like rpgs, miniatures, board and computer games. But they're not slipping rohypnol into their pepsis at conventions or talking dirty to 13 year old girls.

It reminds me of that woman who schlepped around a mattress for a whole semester. Bullshit detracts from dealing with the real problem. Rosa Parks just decided she couldn't be bothered moving seats one day, she didn't claim a bunch of white guys tried to lynch her.

The target is way off. If the OP statement was changed from "Tabletop gaming has a white male terrorism problem" to "Tabletop gaming has a social retard/lawncrapper terrorism problem", then it might actually come to a useful end.

But it won't, because SJWs refuse to relieve the socially retarded/lawncrappers of their victimhood and make them be responsible for their behavior.
"Meh."

She was part of a movement aimed at bringing awareness to an issue by doing the thing that they were trying to make people aware of. There wasn't a need to exaggerate anything or consolidate multiple people's stories into one person, it was a real thing that happened with no exaggeration.

That is why it was so effective, because the result of not giving up her seat was the thing that she was opposing even if it was planned ahead.

The same knuckle heads that believe we have a "white male terrorism  problem" would throw a hissy fit if someone said we have a "Islamic terrorism problem". I don't take them seriously because their worldview is so incoherent that it collapses in on itself as soon as they have to start answering any questions or face any criticism. It's why they are fighting so hard to control the language we are allowed to use and are trying to weaponize their "pain". They used to say that they were not trying to control what sort of games we could play but now that facade has been dropped. A big problem is that a lot of these nitwits went on to university and majored in professional victim hood and have found out that the the marketplace doesn't value them so they are trying to live on graft. The way to know they are not serious is based on the fact that they are unwilling to compete in the marketplace both on an idea and on a product level. They are not serious and we should stop pretending they are and shouldn't be giving them the false sense that we view them to be serious. We should point and laugh until they take their ball and go someplace else.

Funny you should mention that.  I took a peek into the FFG boards, and lo and behold, there's another of these threads full of knights and enablers.  So I posted my screenshot.

And got accused of being a horrible person for attempting to invalidate...I don't know, bullshit?  Hell, I'm not even claiming that this didn't happen, I'm simply skeptical, and just trying to provide a counter point.

Which apparently makes me a bad person or something.  I guess we're about to have a shortage of fainting couches on the internet soon.

I would have punched him in the face about a second after that left his mouth, and I'm neither kidding or exaggerating.  I don't think I could stop myself.  Granted, I'd probably be thinking "this is stupid" while my fist was flying.

Emma Sulkowitz. Who went on to make some kind of artsy statement about her "rape" by making a video of her getting fucked by a guy, and then put it on the internet.

There are women who are manipulative, vengeful and sometimes just plain crazy who will use this stuff for attention and/or personal gain. I'm 99% sure this woman who wrote the blog post is in that category. And it cheapens real instances of harassment. Those saying "Listen and believe!" aren't doing the issue any favors.

I think that infamous White Man's Guilt (and/or Penis Guilt) syndrome should be properly addressed, recognized as a medical condition and treated, if we are to move any further as a civilization.
