SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

There is so much anger in the hobby because the people discussing it are most likely, western, middle class, and well fed. They don't actually face real hardship so they get to the extreme of the mundane. The West is so wealthy and the people here are in a such good shape that we can bitch and moan about silly elf games, books, and movies, when other parts f the world that face real hardship will never be able to understand.

It's interesting and noteworthy as well to recognize that their discontent comes not from their poverty (which is illusory), but their relative poverty. In other words, comparing themselves against more successful members of their own society, when the truth is that even the poorest person in Western society is still richer than 80% of the rest of the world.

Which is why we have the phenomena of morbidly obese people bitching about their poverty from air conditioned apartments, wearing designer tennis shoes, drinking their Starbucks, all from an iPhone with high speed internet. No sense of perspective.

Quote from: rawma;1069897Apparently hit a nerve! Could it be that reading comprehension here is very very bad, or that the usual suspects here are just looking for something to be outraged about? I'll take a "both/and" stance on that question.

I didn't say "libertarians, who have some particular trait";  I said "libertarians who have some particular trait". I won't venture an opinion on whether a large percentage of libertarians who weren't contrarian morons would be harmful or not; certainly this site doesn't seem to have many such.

Switching to ad hominem. You seem annoyed now.

Have you met poor people? They fucking suck like the rest of humanity.

I've had the "pleasure" to interact with the "top" and the "bottom" of the human food chain. There is nothing inherently angelic, noble nor worthy among either.

Quote from: Ratman_tf;1069905Why mention libertarians at all? That what got my attention. Why not speak of this "particular trait". If it's contrarianism, I guarantee you, there's plenty to go around.

Libertarians are particularly prone to it; so many of them are conservatives but call themselves libertarians to be contrarian.

  • It's not an argumentum ad hominem.
  • No, not annoyed in the least. If I were annoyed, I'd resort to ad homonym. :D

So a person can't possibly have nuanced views like being liberal on social issues but conservative on federal budget and defense issues, or be for personal freedom and limited government in your view.

I'm envious. Your world is so much simpler. :D

Don't you know: Political parties no longer allow multi-classing even if your mental stats are high enough. It supposedly prevents obnoxious level dipping.

Quote from: Stacy Dellorfano - Facebook - 12/27/2018So, boycotting Gary Con is to get Gary Con to move into the 21st century, but if you want to hit Frog God Games where it counts, head on over to Humble Bundle and let them know how you feel about the owner, Bill Webb.

Even better! Contact the charity involved so they know where the money is coming from:

Links and other lunacy stripped.

I'm curious how FGG no longer being able to donate product for a Humble Bundle charity drive "hits them where it counts" but, I'm a simple man.

The only one potentially hurt here is the charity that benefits from the Humble Bundle, but, hey, who cares about collateral damage when you're on a holy crusade?
