SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Quote from: jhkim;1071425As you note, I think that's trivializing Niemoller. Nazi comparisons are always stupid, in my opinion, whether used by liberals or conservatives.

Regardless of whether I agree or disagree with it, calling for a boycott of a game convention is not the fucking gas chamber.

Well, I agree, Nazi comparisons are usually stupid, especially all the ones used by the people you like impressing on your social media profile. :D

Niemoller quote comparisons, however, do have broader reach, because the moral it teaches can be applied to many things, as it can be boiled down to "If you don't care if the mob comes for something that doesn't affect you, don't worry, your attitude ensures that soon, they will."  It's similar to the "Evil only triumphs when Good men do nothing.", or even phrases like "Freedom isn't Free."  It's a call to action to defend the rights or activities of others against those whose actions you know are wrong.
Even the the "cutting edge" storygamers for all their talk of narrative, plot, and drama are fucking obsessed with the god damned rules they use. - Estar

Yes, Sean Connery\'s thumb does indeed do megadamage. - Spinachcat

Looks like I'm late to the party... an interesting 82 pages of reading for sure.

Oh, don't worry, this party never ends.

You're now supposed to boycott TotalCon, btw.

Watching the head of that convention do the Compliance Tapdance was interesting.

So many pages of typing about the boycott and the target is at the con running sold out and overflowing events.

Who? Stacey? Bill?

Bill.

I don't know all of the details, and didn't see any response from TotalCon about Bill, but the website still lists him as an industry guest, he most definitely attended, and nary an issue occurred.

My understanding is that the con did sell out, at least on the peak days, and a good time was had by all.

Bill was at Gary Con, ran his games, hung out. Zero drama.

Boycott?  Sweet!  Tell me what I need to be offended about.  I'll jump right in.

I'm pretty sure we picked up some additional support out of all this drama, as we set a new record for attendance at GaryCon this year. We were over 2,500 badged and checked in when I showed up on Thursday Afternoon. I'll have some photos up a bit later today or tomorrow as well as a convention report for you!
Blackmoor grew from a single Castle to include, first, several adjacent Castles (with the forces of Evil lying just off the edge of the world to an entire Northern Province of the Castle and Crusade Society's Great Kingdom.
