Man, they are still after Bill Webb? I understand he had an issue at PaizoCon, but this idea that he needs to be drummed out of the industry is ridiculous. Hopefully he's learned his lesson and and has stopped drinking at cons, (though he is a fun drinking partner). I'm with Shark on this one, inclusion doesn't mean you get to dictate your whims onto an existing 44 year old hobby.

I mean, we're not talking GenCon, we are talking GaryCon.  That con is mostly dedicated to old-school gaming, some elements of which are not considered politically correct today.  If Gary was still alive today he'd be a target of SJWs for stuff he's written and opinions he had online.

Remember the OSR logo situation.  I saw this independently online on Facebook--her proposal for what a new logo should be.  I am actually wondering how much crossover the OSR-grognard crowd actually has with the modern audiences that lean towards those principles that are labled as "Social Justice Warriors"

No, actually it's not.  The problem is that like this woman, you only see the end result. What you and others of your generation forget is that men and women have different interests.  I could point out how caring about men is a...  How to put it?  Negative sum game.  It doesn't matter if women are also suffering from the same problem, the moment men are thrown into the mix, humanity stops caring.  Things like how men are the first and most to die in wars.  How men are still the number 1 in workplace deaths.  How men are still the highest demographic to commit suicide successfully.  All of which have nothing to do with you or her, all you see is that men are at the top.  Not how much work it takes to get up there, or how many other men failed to even get there.

Women are and always have been protected, and they always will be, because otherwise, humanity would die out in less than 2 generations.

Whether you like the work or not, Stacy Dellorfano has been pretty involved in Old School Gaming, which seems to be genuine interest. They are still the Community Manager for Legends of the Flame Princess, and they created the Swords & Wizardry module Zaya's Promise along with designing Swords & Wizardry 3rd printing. I believe Contessa has run games at GaryCon for many years prior to this.

Re Bill Webb, my guess or suspicion is that he probably did behave somewhat inappropriately, but that there have been attempts to exaggerate it (I heard stuff like "he broke a guy's arm!" from the whisperers), and I doubt he did anything that could result in a criminal conviction or that should result in him being banished from society forever.

If he was being a jerk* at my D&D Meetup I'd throw him out and ban him, but I wouldn't go round telling every other Meetup to ban him too, or try to shut down his company.

*Drunkenly hitting on a girl who was clearly uncomfortable with it, which seems to be the allegation - also that he followed her across the convention.

If the allegations have substance I do think it would be a good idea for someone to chaperone him and stop him getting drunk.

Outstanding my friend. I'm glad you could figure out what I was trying to say!:) Yeah, I can't help but think about in the ancient times of the dinosaurs, when we were kids--how women handled this stuff quite well, privately. Either they told you directly, they weren't intersted, and that was the end of it. Or they handled it in some sly, cute way, with grace and even humour--especially if the man hitting on them, clumsily--was drunk. This kind of thing was routinely handled by women with grace, firmness, wit, and humour--and always with *discretion*.

Those kinds of women seem to have died out.

Like with my earlier commentary, yeah, so maybe Webb and BJ Hensley had, some kind of disagreement. What the fuck does that have to do with Gary Con, and what the fuck is that any of Contessa's business? I don't think it is Stacey's business, or much of anyone else's, either. It's between Webb and Hensley. I respect them and their privacy as an issue between *them*. If a law had been violated, and charges *proven* in court, then, by extension, it would then be a public matter, and something of my business. And you're right--if he acted like a jerk at your game meeting, you'd certainly be entitled to ban him, and even give him a dressing down. Not telling other people to ban him, or otherwise making a public spectacle of it--shows you to be a man of dignity and *class*. These kinds of attitudes and modes of behavior and conduct are largely foreign to most people nowadays.

And who knows...your handling such a situation in such a manner, might not only encourage him to think about his behavior, make changes, whatever, and he might approach you with humility, respect, and gratitude. Imagine that! WIN/WIN, you know?

The fact that some flaccid men who are making this about "your whiteness" or precious masculinity is ignoring the point. She, I and many other women have been sexually harassed by men at conventions. The man she named was literally reviewed by his own board and booted from his own company for serial harassment. This. Is. An.Undisputed. Fact.

It is time to take stock of ourselves as a community and call out people who are serial harassers. If you will not recognize and listen to women about real harassment, you are an enabler, and I dare say not a real man.

This will be my first year not attending Garycon.
