This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Pipe smoking! I curse all those years I wasted on cigarettes and cigars now. The pipe keeps the buzz going half a day or longer on one bowl, you don't need to inhale, and it's entirely more civilized. You do have to spring for the good stuff to make it worthwhile, but even the good stuff winds up being less than you would spend for similar satisfaction from cigarettes or cigars.

So thanks!

(I mean, don't smoke at all if you haven't started. But the pipe is the way to go if you have and you don't want to quit.)

The more times you try to quit, the better chance you have of quitting. The opposite is also true. So: don't give up!

I quit smoking one time. What a disappointment!  It's the only thing I'm good at.

I had quit for several years last time. An extreme increase in life stress (part of what has caused trouble with Fight On!) sent me back to it. The pipe moderates my consumption significantly and is much more satisfying, so I'm staying with it for the time being.

I agree with you in general, of course. Smoking is bad for you. But this Marco Island is a good kind of bad, if that makes any sense, which it doesn't in the grand Socratic scheme of things, but you know what I'm talking about. :-)

As a non-smoker who can't stand cigarettes, I find that pipes aren't very noxious at all to be around. So that's another plus.

I’ve heard that some people prefer pipe smoke to cigarettes or cigars. Apparently I’m not one of those people. The Math department where I did my undergraduate degree had several pipe smokers and back then they could smoke in their offices. That entire wing of the building constantly reeked of tobacco. The aroma had impregnated the walls to the point that even on a Sunday when no one was there and their offices were all closed up the entire floor still smelled like a tobacconist's shop.

Fortunately the smell of ThePundit's tobacco is barely even noticeable on the forum. ;)

Vapes are hands down best for not bugging others.

But unfortunately cigars are always better than pipes.  It's scientifically proven!

I quit well over a decade ago and still think about it almost every day.

One of the smells from my childhood that's never left was the smell from my father's corn cob pipes. And that's despite the fact that both my parents quit smoking before I was 8.

Yeah, me too. Funny though, all the other naughty things I have quit do not have the temptation staying power.

Vapes > Bongs > Pipes

Currently smoking? Charlie Sheen! (yeah, they named a strain after him)

I am loving our PAX vaporizer. I've never enjoyed tobacco in any form and it utterly rules to live in a medical marijuana state (California). Legal MJ will be good news for Uruguay as well. What's really strange is how the variety has exploded so massively in such a short time.

My grandfather was a pipe smoker so I understand the enjoyment, far better smell than cigars or cigarettes. Certainly more civilized and refined. I wonder if hookah gives a similar experience. Never tried it.

But of course now I know about Pundy's Minotaur Blowjob fetish, it casts his PIPE SMOKING in a whole new light!!! :) [Sorry, just couldn't resist]

I'm glad to hear of another new pipe smoker!

I'm not familiar with "Marco Island", is it some local tobacconist's blend, perhaps?

My only advice is to try several varieties to get an idea what you like, and to get higher-quality blends that only use natural flavoring, which are much much better than cheaper blends full of preservatives and chemical additives.

It is the house aromatic blend at my local independent tobacconist. All-natural, as you suggest. Really like it!

OK, what the fuck is a vape?

My grandfather used to smoke cigars. I like the smell of certain brands of cigar, but not the cheap crappy ones.

I mostly quit smoking (pot and cigarettes), meaning that I *can* smoke on occasion and enjoy it without falling back into the old habbit.
