"Social Mechanics": Subsidizing Social Retardation

How is it relevant? I only recall the ADnD version, which at the time we thought was cool as it let us whack gods but with hindsight I do not think was the best product I ever bought.
GRIM:
Social mechanics fulfill a role for those players who can't be charismatic but wish to play charismatic characters or for a GM who isn't good at lying/acting/seducing etc.
More complex systems help make social conflict an interesting back-and-forth in the same way that combat systems do. As with any rule, you don't HAVE to use it though.

I stole it, so I didn't mind. That was the version with Elric and Cthulhu, but I sold it to buy stuff I used.

Ah, that makes much more sense. Good recommendation.
The Medieval Player's Handbook also has some neat rules for scholarly disputes.
