Now Dynasties and Demagogues: there's a book that absolutely ROCKS.
Its a must-buy for anyone who has a political element in any of their campaigns (I've put it to good use in many many campaigns, the latest of which is my Roman campaign)
But its not about "social mechanics" in any way. Unless you're suggesting that diplomacy checks to sway a crowd are "social mechanics"; where my response to that is in the original post above: there's a right way and wrong way to use stuff like Diplomacy.
