Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

You folks are in dire need of some crayons.

Hey, crayons are no laughing matter.

They're delicious!

Whatever, man.  I started my kids out with HeroQuest.  Pundit, I think you totally mis-perceive and probably underestimate the audience you're aiming at.

HeroQuest is explosively perfect for getting kids into roleplaying. The combination of HQ and Final Fantasy IV got my entire circle of friends into RPGs and fantasy.

Now if Milton Bradley would get off their asses and re-release HQ and Battle Masters, we'd be sitting pretty.

EDIT: It would seem we are talking about vastly different HeroQuests.  Ah, well.

Personally I thought the Dungeons and Dragons Boardgame was the way to go. It is basically simplified D&D crossbred with the HeroQuest boardgame.

Too bad it was never released in the US.

Anyone know how well this did in England and Germany?

That's funny though, because it pretty much shows the gaping divide between the way a certain tiny minority of gamers view stuff, and how the vast majority see RPGs.

And yes, MB's Heroquest, the REAL Heroquest, is a great way to get younger kids into RPGs gradually.

Damn that looks cool.

Why? Why do they give this sort of stuff to the Germans, who are too busy with DSA, and leather fetishism, and Heino, to appreciate it??? :p

It does. I never even knew that Europe got their own stuff, I just knew that the US equivalent received rather lackluster reviews. Might have to get that...

German engineering. We find ways to combine all that stuff into one, thus improving the total experience. You could use the D&D board game to play in the world of DSA, while dressed in leather and playing a bard who sings Heino songs. Well, probably not, as the world is not ready yet for an introductory game featuring bards.

I'd also like to note that that specific picture is apparently from the Dutch version. Two separate countries. We've got sausages, they've got the pot, we've got Heino, they've got Heintje.

Ha!  Sorry for the confusion.  You're not the first.

The tiny majority being roleplaying gamers and the vast majority being board gamers.  I agree.  Oh!  Maybe that's not what you meant.  Maybe you meant to detract from the fact that young roleplaying gamers can be introduced to the hobby by pretty much any game, and not just D&D.

And there it is. Can't resist a petty -- and inaccurate -- dig, can you? :)

So, how's that Amber forum of yours coming along? :D
