SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Quote from: SpikeIn the real world you can get knives that run two or three hundred bucks fairly easily now days. You can also find pistols that run for under a hundred (though... I would not recommend firing them if you value your hand...)

BUt I gave up long ago attempting to reconcile Shadowrun's pricing with anything rational.

Shadowrun is a game where prices reflect 'balance' almost as much as anything else, and yet your pimped out million nuyen motherfucker can get assraped by a broke ass street troll who happens to be an adept.

Go figure.

Sounds like game balance to me. One guy puts his points into having wealth and buys a lotta toys with it, the other guy put his points into buying physical stats and magical ability, so in a fairly done game they should be even and, all other things being even, the more competent player should win, barring luck.
RPGPundit is a fucking fascist asshole and a hypocritial megadouche.

And, just in case it got lost in the discussion, the prices for 4th edition are a lot better than the ones being quoted here. That survival knife (Str/2 + 1P) only costs 50 nuyen. The cheapest pistol you can get is a 4P holdout for 100 nuyen, and it's single shot (which means only one shot per initiative pass).
