This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Unless Trump invokes the Insurrection Act -- a political landmine he might be better off not detonating -- he cannot order in troops to stabilize things. The feds in Portland were protecting federal facilities, and the National Guard has to be called up by the state governor.

As far as 'divisive', I'm sorry, that's just a load of dog shit. Who has been lecturing people for the last twenty years on identity politics, microaggressions, body sensitivity, racial equity, 57 genders, and white privilege? THAT is divisive, and it's worked like a charm.

The first part makes sense.
But horseshit? I think this is where your own biases are showing, because it was very hard to miss during his first campaign. He definitely contributed to a turn towards more shit flinging than ever before (e.g. "lock her up" which was quickly forgotten once he won). Of course the SJWs are divisive, and I have never denied it.

Hilary Clinton is one person, not a demographic. Every candidate casts shade on their opponent. Frikkin Kamala Harris called Joe Biden a racist and now just smiles and laughs when reminded of it.

The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Trump believes in state's rights FAR more than I do. He sees long term value in the strategy of (a) offering help but respecting local autonomy and (b) letting everyone sane see what the Democrats are doing to their own cities and states.

He's betting this will not only ensure his re-election, but a red wave across the country AND a middle class flight into red states as well.

I'm not a fan of this strategy (for many reasons).

As I've said before, Trump's re-election only pushes the inevitable collapse of America out four more years. We're not going to survive multiple decades of communist indoctrination and cultural destruction. A civil war might be good for a violent purge, but the surviving nation will be terribly wounded for decades.

And I doubt that would be enough. Without a massive "conservative" cultural revolution, a civil war might not achieve much either. Millenials and GenZ are just too broken and everyone else is getting old very fast.

Good times have brought Weak Men who are bringing us Bad Times and who knows if the Strong Men who arise in the Bad Times will have any interest in the Founding Fathers' wisdom.

As I said; Trump is definitely part of the current divisive trend. Not sure why this needs to be discussed further, unless we are entering "Trump can do no wrong" territory.

Sometimes it is easy to confuse people like Trump who call out things like "fake news" as being the ones who created the problem.

The Gandalf Stormcrow effect I believe.

I'll say yes, he's part of it. But he's a symptom. The Democrat party abandoned the middle class for identity victim politics, and have engendered a lot of, hell probably most of, the divisiveness running through America right now.

Trump is divisive.  He got elected because of it, not in spite of it.  People are ready to divide just a bit.   When you tell me I have to let a boy into the bathroom with my daughter at school to be tolerant, and I say no thanks, well then I am suddenly divisive as well.   Some ideas I am quite OK with dividing myself from completely.
