SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Quote from: Doc Sammy;1110183We could've avoided the rise of both the Religious Right and the militantly atheist left had Rome never abandoned their pagan ways to pursue a heretical Jewish cult.

The Edict of Milan was a mistake. Change my mind.

Read Augustine's The City of God Against the Pagans. It was written to deal with this very idea that "Rome fell because she abandoned the pagan gods."

To be fair, I wasn't blaming the fall of Rome on abandoning Paganism in favor of Christianity, as the Roman Empire fell mainly due to over-extension and a failing economy. That was going to happen whether or not they rejected the old pagan ways and adopted Christianity as the state religion.

What I was saying is that the rise of militant atheism and many leftist movements in the West is born out of a massive resentment towards Christianity and the dominance of Protestant Christianity in particular.

Admittedly, I probably was being way too snarky and caustic about it.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.
