Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Maybe the rules that are ever present on every page aren't in a large enough font for people to acknowledge? Maybe increase the font size so it can't be ignored? :D

I agree with everything she said, and I want to believe this is all being done in good faith, but given her relationships and previous actions I don't trust her enough to lead this charge. It needs to be someone else. And we're already seeing discrepancies between action and intent.

For example she states...

"Policies stating some variation of "at our sole discretion" actions that may or may not be taken are barely more than legal language to shield a company, convention, or organization from liability."

...and yet the policy she's endorsing states...

"When it has been determined that a violation of this policy has occurred, the company, convention, or industry organization receiving the complaint will determine, in its sole discretion, the appropriate sanction."

BTW, archive.is is either redirecting links to porn ads and worse, or someone figured out how to trick it into doing so when it comes to image links from Wordpress. Either way you should avoid clicking on, or even around, any images in the above.

Quote from: James Gillen;1029838I guess that explains why they think a policy vetted by lawyers is a good idea.  Clearly just trusting people's instincts isn't good enough in all cases.

So much for Rulings not Rules :D

Quote from: S'mon;1029852Can someone tell me what Suleiman's accused of?

Other than aggressive flirting and grabbing a woman's leg (which got him banned at StokerCon) I honestly don't remember. His 'apology' however demonstrated his character in much the same way Kevin Spacey's did, and I judge him on that.

Quote from: Christopher Brady;1030027The issue I have is how this bleeds into the politics.

First off, as a moderator I don't care what people opinions are on the issue. Feel free to express them. What I do care is that this forum (i.e. Pen & Paper Roleplaying Discussion) remain somewhat on topic. So if this conversation about Green Ronin can't be held without discussing what going on in society at large. Then open a thread on the Pundit's forum where those type of topics are discussed and this thread will be closed or moved. But as long as this thread remains on Green Ronin and the RPG industry then it is on topic for this forum.

For example you stated an opinion

QuoteGreen Ronin seems to be hip deep into trying to seem to be onboard with the this extreme strange super-Leftist movement, and it starting to affect their games.

Which is on point for this forum. If however you stated the above and stated talking about particulars of the "strange super-Leftist" movements. Then that is not on topic here. And folks feel that the conversation can't be held without that level of detail then take it over to the Pundit's forum.

This should be in RPGPundit's forum.

Green Ronin chose to become "culture war" game company instead of gaming company. But what it has become is a shitty publishing house run by arrogant hypocritical scumbags that made some good stuff a long time ago. They won't be missed.

As for all these "policies", its a hysterical joke. The crossover between "woke person" and "rapey freak" seems rather common in the Seattle publisher scene.

Sadly, I think I agree.  It's getting hard to separate the game company and it's products from it's politics in a way that wouldn't break the boards rules.  :(

What made the issue worse in this case imo is that they were and are trying to present themselves as being progressive and making sure to check off all the SJW boxes on the SJW scorecard. Believe the victim no matter how slim the proof is. Except they came off as the biggest hypocrites in the industry because it was good and okay if it was someone else. Once one of their own was accused of sexual misconduct. Suddenly a full reverse on their positions on the topic. Sulemain was innocent and it was all a big conspiracy. They publically and privately attacked the character of those accusing Sulemain going so far as slut shaming them in public. Thinking that somehow that by being "progressive" and "inclusive" that their fanbase was going to give Sulemain and by extension them a free pass on the entire situation. Which spectacularly backfired on them. The backlash would have been less imo of they had handled themselves much better in public and private. At the very least don't attack a person character on a public and easy to link to public space on the internet.

They also need to keep Chris and Nicole the hell away from the Internet because both don't like negative push back from the fans and they don't know how to handle themselves in public. Recently Chris Pramas on his twitter wrote "same lies from the same people". Already the company looks hypocritical for trying to promote themselves as gatekeepers of sexual misconduct prevention after how poorly and terrible to the entire Sulemain situation. Having the second person in charage of the company attack the same people again. All it does is make people want to buy less of their products and more hypocritical imo.

The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

Since posters asked the thread to be moved, I assume so they can talk about the larger issues, it is now in the Pundit's forums.

I love superhero games, and M&M 3e is one of the ones that really gets it for me, mechanically.  But when they force their stupid progressive stacking bullshit into their settings it sets my teeth on edge.  For a couple of reasons, first is that a Super Setting isn't even close to the Real World it mimics.  The main reason we're have a 'class' war with Feminism and everyone else (or so it seems) is because we don't have any real outside conflicts.  In a super setting, we got super villains who quite frankly want to take over the earth.  Which puts any sort of philosophical bantering kinda on the back burner.  Yet no one considers this.

No more surprising than all the Hollywood/Hillary supporters being gobsmacked that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey were serial assaulters.
Or for that matter, the crossover between "good Christian" and "rapey freak" in Republican circles.

I can say that now that this is in the non-gaming forum. :D

I'm not sure what you mean by 'stacking' in this context. I'm looking it up on Urban Dictionary and it doesn't really help. :o

I am shocked to learn that rapey freaks pretend to be something other than rapey freaks. It's like they try to blend in and prey on people or something.

It is interesting that "rapey freaks" (either Left or Right) find the "self-proclaimed virtuous" to be their best camouflage and allies.

I can get past the progressive and inclusive stuff in their rpgs. For some odd reason rpg companies have decided to pander to those that want both in their rpgs. Even if the majority don't really buy, play let alone like rpgs imo. What was a turn off for me in regards to GR is how hypocritical they acted both as a company and individuals. As long as it was someone else employee engaging in questionable behavior towards the opposite sex it was fine and dandy. Once it was one of their own they showed their true colors as both a company and individuals.  I don't think I will ever buy anything from them again and I feel like just selling what I already own. They have seemed to learn nothing and think virtue signalling and being progressive will make people forgot how much they screwed up. Unfortunately for GR it's not working.

Thus the phrase "wolf in sheep's clothing".
