This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

At the time I did, I was traveling the world. My work at that time was such that I could work anywhere that had an internet connection (very different work now, but still true).
It was never my intention to move permanently, I was just enjoying travel; but when I got to Uruguay I just felt such a general affinity for it that I decided to stay.

Of course, the material conditions were right too: they spoke a language I could speak (sort of, back then; now I sometimes pass for native here), they were a part of my common culture. They were quite modern by latin american standards. The economics of it were favorable to me at the time (they became way less favorable around the time of the great recession, but are favorable again now). The food and culture was good. And the people were really good. At the time, the government wasn't socialist (it was a centrist democratic party) but even the socialists (who got into power a couple of years after I arrived, and ended up ruling for 15 years) were much less crazy than the South American norm. And I loved Montevideo as a city.

I own a library quality world atlas, and it helps open up one's perspective of just how big this world is.  I have traveled a lot within the U.S., in days long past; but not outside the U.S.

The Invisible College seems interesting.  I see you are also a practitioner, yourself?  What was your introduction, to the craft?

Certainly explains a lot, I suspected as much based on the way you talk about it.

I remember hearing a similar sentiment from a friend of mine.

How has life been in Uruguay during the shamdemic?

Did the country destroy its economy for the sniffles?

No. Uruguay is one of the only countries in the world that never did a lockdown. They did close schools for a while, banned large-scale events (soccer, concerts, etc) and obliged mask-wearing in indoor public areas. But the current president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, resisted massive pressure from the media, academics, the international and national "medical experts", the communist/socialist party and the trade unions they control (including the massive union of public employees), and some hysterical factions in his own party, and absolutely refused to force a lockdown. He's an absolute hero.

So life here (apart from the inconvenience of having to put on a mask when going into a shop) has been pretty much normal.

Bravo!!!

Every time I look at my AD&D premium reprints, I remember that you also have the same set; which you use as props in some of your videos.  Something they gave you, when you provided input during the development of D&D 5E core.

Correct. It was part of my bonus.

That's really cool. Also your leader sounds based.

If you don't mind me asking, if you could ask Wizards for any DnD book or collection no matter how obscure, old or hard to find it is. What would it be?

I don't feel like I really need anything from WoTC. At the time, getting a new 1e DMG was really helpful because I'd worn out my old one until it was literally falling to pieces.
