SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Quote from: Dumarest;992124WSE and radical Islam are both evil, but there are a ton more adherents of the latter, making them the larger problem at the moment.

You don't need to kill or blow up building to cause lasting harm. SJW have already infiltrated bureaucracies and judiciaries and abused authority and, possibly even worse, look what has become of American colleges and universities that are supposed to be bastions of free speech and inquiry.

Academia may well be a place where SJWism is a real problem. I'm... pretty far removed from college, so I don't have first-hand experience, but what I see is troubling.

It's still not even close to a terrorist threat or a serious criminal enterprise -- not even in the same ballpark in terms of damage to the country.

In terms of infiltrating bureaucracies and judiciaries, I don't see that. It's not that there's 0% evidence of bone-heads in positions of mediocre power, but a lot of what I see people claim is SJWism (firing that Google guy) looks to me like standard corporate ass-covering.

I'm also skeptical that SJWs have taken over major systems to any significant degree and I don't think they're a movement or an organization. If it turns out that a lot of liberal people work in bureaucracies, that's just liberals in the culture. There's a lot of them. I think for it to be "infiltration" there has to be some kind of plan or misrepresentation -- SJWs pretending to be something else for subversive purposes. I don't see that happening.

But even if it did -- even if there was a cabal of tumblr kids who had somehow snuck into the halls of power, I remain unconvinced that they would be able to do anything like the damage WSE have done, historically.

And I think the WSE threat is only going to grow -- along with other radical, anti-social ideologies.

We're going to see more marginal people turning to terroristic philosophies and -- ultimately -- acts. We're going to see movements that promise to make sense of the world and give people a heroic sense of self-identity if they're just willing to follow charismatic leaders into violence. Those aren't SJWs and they worry me a lot more than the SJWs do.

Cheers,
-E.

Quote from: Dumarest;992125Wait, confirmation bias surprised someone? Generally you can tell by whether someone is willing to change his mind based on new evidence, or if they deny as fake/false/invalid/etc. any and all evidence that contradicts his belief.

The problem is, a lot of people here seem to be constructing a fantasy view of the world by cherry picking the facts that support the world they believe exists. I am not seeing a lot of people change their minds in light of new information (if anything new information just seems to muddy the waters).

Quote from: Dumarest;992108Ironically it's just the opposite because the "WSE" have no power or influence while the "SJW" have infiltrated a major political party and have pushed through parts of their agenda already.

Forget it. He's an SJW-fan pretending to be a conservative. He's as "conservative" as Louise Mensch (who wikileaks proved was working for Hillary) or closet-case Evan McMuffin, or that piece of shit Bill Kristol, who like -E has the quality of being wrong about everything (E doesn't look as buffoonish only because he doesn't constantly make predictions which are almost immediately proven wrong).

He's a representative of the Establishment, who actually don't care about any political ideals but their own survival, but within that (recently) have turned Leftward since the Right is now sick to death of them and the real Leftists are too stupid to realize they're being used. I mean, for fuck's sake, the Establishment has now tricked the Left into hating Wikileaks, cheering the Deep State, wanting the CIA to destabilize and cause a coup d'etat in the US just like all those ones they decried in South America, and cheering for warmongering.  I feel bad for poor old Dubya; all the same people on the Left who (rightly) despised him for invading Iraq are now DEMANDING that Trump invade Syria, because the Establishment Media told them to.

In fact, the harm those things cause (be they from neo-nazis or, far more frequently in the last decade and a half, Islamists that are then protected and excused by the Left) is terrible but in essence personal and not institutional.
If you want to destroy civilization, taking over a college campus is a much more effective way to do it than blowing up a federal office or shooting a bunch of people in a mall or running over a bunch of people in a truck. That's why the Islamist jihad has teamed up with the Left, who protects them and persecutes their critics in the Muslim world, even though to them the Left are a gang of degenerates who will be the first ones beheaded and thrown off buildings if they get their way.

That's exactly what the Left promises, in fact. It's all about Identity and all about obeying the small group of "woke" elites, and about Creating Utopia by FORCING everyone to conform to those Great Leaders' agendas.

Antifa have literally given people a sense of heroic self-identity by working collectively at moving into conservative and free-speech spaces and intimidating and BRUTALLY ASSAULTING everyone they can so as to terrify their opposition into silence.
