SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

It's not Mary Jane though. Her name is Michelle, and I don't know if a last name is given.

True, we don't know for sure. Maybe "MJ" in this movie stands for "Michelle Jones" (or something else that begins with "J") and the writers are keeping their options open.

It's a CYA decision in case ink washing a major character blows up in their faces.

It CAN be done well, it's just rare to find someone who does it without screwing it up.  Another example of changing the race of established characters that worked well is Iris and Wally West in CW's Flash show. There isn't the heavy handed moralizing you see in, say, Supergirl.  They're just ... the characters, and the cast works well as a whole.

About James Gunn losing his job: fuck him and I hope he never works in Hollywood wgain. Remember the rodeo clown that was banned for wearing an Obama mask? The left started this and it's tome they have to live by their rules.

I want the Right to go through every celebrities social media feeds and find anything they can to punish these people. We know who started this culture war.

Fuck the SJWs and their enablers

To me, it's somewhat disturbing whenever I see people lose their jobs over their not-at-work speech, but like the Jessica Price shitstorm, there's another part of me that feels satisfied when shit like this boomerangs them in the face. Maybe this is the only way people will learn to value free speech, but I doubt it. You can see the hamster wheel spinning rationalizations already.

If being a douchebag on the internet was enough to get you fired, none of us would be employable. I don't like it when the lefties do it, why should I cheer now?

Because they won't stop until they see how their rules impact themselves.

But they aren't seeing it as their rules coming back to haunt them.  The cognitive dissonance is staggering!  To them it's just internet trolls, GGers and trash human beings being shit because they can.  There is no "maybe we started this" crossing their minds.

Quote from: Aglondir;1050100The one exception is the Very Special SJ Teachable Moment, where she refuses to enter the Washington Monument "because it was built by slaves." There's no evidence that this is true, although slaves might have been employed at the site. But evidence isn't important, only Listening and Believing.

This didn't bother me too much since it seemed in character.  MJ seemed like the SJW type so it seemed like something she'd do.  That being said you could have removed her from the movie and the removal would be 100% unnoticed.

He was using his name (which is what directors base their work on) and a blue check mark.  And it wasn't so much the comments (see Patton Oswalt and numerous others making these same jokes) as the fact that he'd shared a video from a convicted pedophile titled "100 pubescent girls touching themselves."  He's lucky he only lost his job.  He's pretty close to a chargeable offence there (I didn't watch the video so no clue what actually happens in it other than knowing it is set to the Divinyls song).

This is similar to that Netflix v-p getting canned for allowing the Argentinian (?) film with the 9 year-old getting herself off on a pillow while her younger sister watches.

I only glanced at the RPGNet thread, but there was an abysmally ignorant quote from Jon Stewart about how this was 'the Right' holding people to a standard they didn't have to live up to ...

To Lurtch:

The problem with "they started it" is that each side is always able to point to something earlier on the other side that started it. For example, a lot of celebrities had their careers destroyed in the past by conservatives over revelations about being gay or other perceived immorality. And I'm sure that they can point to actions by liberals before that, and so on back.

It's always bullshit to cheer for your side when they engage in bad behavior, and then decry the other side when they do the same thing.

The principle of Mutually Assured Destruction doesn't actually work, because no one is actually destroyed and almost no one learns their lesson. It just standardizes being a jerk on all sides, which is survivable but stupid.

EDITED: (added second quote from Lurtch to clarify what I'm replying to)

Sorry, Warboss. I was replying mostly to Lurtch. I've edited the post to clarify.

S'mon

The guy sounds like a piece of work, but I enjoyed his films. And Bryan Singer is (somehow) still employable. So I dunno.
