Marvel still publishes comic books? I thought they gave that up since all the money is in movies and merchandise and nobody reads American super hero comics anymore.

My son is a Marvel fan; according to him Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy comics are still ok, if you want something readable. The rest appears to be garbage now. It was funny-sad watching a 9 year old pay £14 for Civil War 2 compilation but stop reading it in disgust, not at its SJW politics per se, but because the SJW politics make it so boring.

I keep telling him to read 2000 AD like I did BiTD, but kids today, no respect for the old ways...

Wow. I am so backlogged with piles of graphic novels off eBay that I haven't read any recent comics. Hopefully this sad trend dies off and the upcoming Black Panther movie won't be a trainwreck.

LOL - I do have a bunch of Heavy Metal tucked away but I think those will wait till he's 16+!

That's probably the key point. Many books and films and even comics can get a political idea or moral point across but in the context of the story and entertainment. It doesn't work so well when you just want to lecture an audience and the story is an afterthought. Not to mention modern comics artists are almost all awful and need to go study human anatomy instead of tracing with lightboxes.

Not defending, saying that it is pathetic to obsess on the politics of superhero comics.

I do think it is time for us 30-40 year old adults to take our Watchmen knock offs and fuck off and leave most super hero comics to the 12 year old kids we've stolen the entire medium from.
