SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Quote from: Ghostmaker;1141616Before you pop off like that, you should read up on how doctors are being encouraged to ask patients about firearms ownership, despite that SO not being their goddamn business.

The days of Reagan humorously joking with his surgeons 'I hope you're all Republicans!' are unfortunately behind us.

Asking about firearm ownership only appears in one place in the systems I work with: post-care planning for patients that have active behavioral health issues, primarily ideations of self-harm or harming others. If you believe that asking about firearm ownership under such circumstances is not the business of a healthcare worker or that it is political under such circumstances, then you are a fool.

And if you don't think gun-grabbers haven't been trying to push their disarmament ideals through every aspect of the medical industry, not just behavioral health,  you're a worthless fuck-up who probably gets more people killed than he saves.

Ok, enough of you. Onto the Ignore list you go.

Greetings!

Whoa, whoa! You guys! Hey, HappyDaze, I can understand where some instances a medical professional may be concerned about a patient's mind set, stress, and firearms ownership. Anyone that has been divorced and gone to see a good counselor for example--will likely ask about weapons in the house and so on, because they are concerned about your ongoing stability, health, well-being and judgment. I know many people suffering through an agonizing divorce for example--may not be in their right minds. Such psychologists will urge you to have a trusted friend or relative keep a hold of your weapons, until such time as you are feeling better, and stronger.

However, HappyDaze, there have been some instances I have read about where some individual medical people involved in some person's life for whatever, had the police confiscate their firearms for--from what I heard of such cases--quite dubious rationale. There is a faction of politicized medical people, along with some judges and social workers that DO want to use whatever excuse they can glue together as a justification for confiscating people's firearms.

Where this gets contentious is the Constitution lays out that a man can only have his rights to be armed abrogated by being convicted of a felony.

NOT at the whim of the supposed judgment of a particular police officer, sheriff, judge, social worker, or other medical professional.

Sometimes you guys just blast each other so quickly, instead of talking about stuff reasonably. Have a drink my friends!

When someone brushes the entire issue under the carpet as 'oh, that's just mental health' and calls me a fool in the process, all bets are off.

But maybe I'll send his wife's son a gift.

I agree, my friend. There are better ways to make a point of discussion.

I know that the rabid Hoplophobes in society are always looking for ways to undermine our gun rights--and as they hate the 2nd Amendment are always looking for ways to twist it and get around it, so that more and more people can be disarmed. It is definitely something that we need to remain very vigilant about, Ghostmaker!:D
