SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Because some people got no fucking life outside of a forum.

Once in the Army a new regulation went out that the NCO instructors were not to swear at the recruits any more.

One brave soul went to Cpl B., who was a fat, lazy, foul-mouthed guy.

Rec. Brave: "Hey Corp, is it true that you're not supposed to swear at us anymore?"
Cpl B: "Yes it is. But I'm going to keep swearing. And if any of yez don't like it, you can come and talk to me afterwards and I'll tell yez to get fucked."

That pretty much finished the topic.

On the topic of the thread, robably rpgs designed for kids shouldn't have too much profanity. I was calling people "cunt!" by the time I was six years old but that is perhaps not a desireable trait in a child ;)

Quote from: RPGPunditHey, I'm not saying every single 10 year old that plays D&D with his/her dad will end up despising it as a teenager or won't ever play it as an adult. I'm just saying many of them will end up including it in the long list of things they thought was cool to do with mom and dad when they were little that they will  run like hell away from later on to try to establish their "adulthood" and independence, and would thus ironically create the opposite from the desired end result (to create a lifelong gamer).

Eh, I think its just as likely that they'll go off to play their own games with their buddies - "I don't play XYZ like my old man, I play ZYX!"  And being teenagers they'll probably be pretentious little twats about it, but they'll grow out of it.  And I'd bet that its fairly common to take a break from gaming to spend time chasing girls and partying.  I certainly did.

Now I do both.  :p
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous \'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I'll be over here.

I'm fascinated by this word. Thanks Nox, for earning it!
My name is Ramón Nogueras. Running now Vampire: the Masquerade (Giovanni Chronicles IV for just 3 players), and itching to resume my Call of Cthulhu campaign (The Sense of the Sleight-of-Hand Man).

Not bitching about cuss words, just joking about their repetitively boring use in place of thought. You could replace every instance of "fuck" in any post RPGPundit makes with "duck" or "smurf" or pretty much any other word and it would still be the same tired, repetitive, and thoughtless B.S.

I play RPG's with my nephew (11) and neice (7) from time to time. Both there parents play RPG's too--but rarely have time to run them on games. As there Uncle who spoils them (and introduced there mother to RPG's) I see nothing wrong with running games for them. I'm working on a Castles and Crusades game for them so my nephew can learn better how to run his own games. (I was running T&T for them. I prefer Tunnels and Trolls to C&C but it was cheaper to get two copies of C&C than two copies of T&T...)

Games they've enjoyed: Tunnels and Trolls, Hearts & Souls (Blue Devil Tiger and Glowbug for pre-teen superhero goodness..;), and Marvel Saga. I've been trying to run a Cartoon Action Hour game as well, but hadn't managed to get together with them enough--my plan was to let them play transforming robots who are into racing, dealing with other racers/situations--corrupt racers, sabotaged tracks, etc. (I don't really like over encouraging violence in RPG's but that's me)

I don't bitch about people using "cuss" words.

I complain when they display a complete failure of doing it well.

Quentin Tarantino is just such an individual.  Until recently, the man didn't know there was any other "cuss" word than "fuck."  No matter what the movie, no matter what the sentiment, no matter what the genre, no matter what the situation, no matter what the culture, his characters could only manage to use the word "fuck" to one another.  And, while they did a lot of "cussing," it was hard to distinguish any real meaning or to ascribe any sense of artistic flair when all they could do (it seemed) was say "fuck."

In fact, I nearly fell out of my chair one day when one of his characters actually said "shit."  (Although, upon listening to the commentary track later, we discovered that was an adlib and QT had just forgotten to remove it in post-production.)

Unfortunately, there are multitudinous individuals who seem to think that "cussing" makes them seem more adult, mature, etc.

Sadly, it tends to go the opposite direction....

...unless it's done well.

Thank you, I needed the amusement this comment brought. :D

The gentleman who held the DM's chair for our group for awhile had a son who wanted to play.  He was allowed to join us (I think the DM may have asked us first, I can't remember for sure but I think so), but was told that he was expected to behave.  He acted his age a few times but overall was a contributing party member for several sessions, however when he misbehaved during a session I missed, his D&D priviledge was revoked.  The only time he played after that was when I was DM'ing and let him run several of the goblin/orc/monsters when I had a swarm of them and wanted to focus on running the higher ranked NPC bad guys during the combat.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up back in the group after he grows up a bit. (on a side note, :( I miss that gaming group)

I've wondered about this as well.

There's really only three options when giving someone a file. You either upload it somewhere they can download it from, email it to them, or give them a physical copy. A google search for sites that allow free file storage should give you a bunch of places where you can upload it for free and they can pull it down at their leisure.

dar

Ultimately your probably correct. Though just to clarify, what I meant is, do the pdf sites that allow you to login and redownload what you've ordered, have a mechanism to transfer your rights purchased to someone else.

The answer I'm going to accept is that there isn't any such mechanism. Just get the file to the other person like you would any other file and hope that it isn't seen as piracy.
