Hey, SHARK!
What is happening now is far less than what Lincoln did. Making claims against the Constitution to complain about what Trump is doing absolutely villifies what Lincoln did. To condemn the lesser is to condemn the greater.
"Losing with my principles intact" is just another way to submit to slavery - and to be guilty of the destruction of everything and everyone you claim to be protecting and upholding.
Greetings!
Hello, my friend! I agree. Lincoln exercised far more strength and Constitutional boundary-pushing than President Trump has. And the funny thing is, President Lincoln knew it, and acknowledged it. He said in the end, though, if the Republic were to lose, and the Union destroyed, what would it have mattered? That's why he was very confident that whatever he did--all that he did--was righteous and good, because he was doing it to preserve the Union and protect the Republic.
President Lincoln had protesters shot and executed. Politicians and "community activists" that were sympathetic to the Confederacy were beaten and imprisoned. Spies and sabotuers were hung. Agitators of all kinds were either executed or imprisoned.
People protesting conscription were allowed to speak for a time--and then the hammer came down, and they were beaten, shot, and imprisoned.
Corporate CEO's and industry magnates that committed fraud against the Union were imprisoned.
Legislators and politicians that did not support the Union were arrested and imprisoned. No lawyers, no crying, no mercy. They were fucking done, just like that.
President Lincoln was dead fucking serious about his mandate from Heaven to preserve the Union!:D And Lincoln did not apologise for any of it at all, damn straight.
I think President Trump is doing good bringing the hammer down on rebels and agitators. He needs to do it more.
President Lincoln would certainly approve!
Semper Fidelis,
SHARK
