This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Many of you have expressed that you'd really not be interested in seeing a fully flushed-out setting for Forward... to Adventure!
I think I can understand that. So now the question is: what kind of setting material would you actually WANT to see in the upcoming Gamemasters' Notebook?

I'd like to see nothing about setting in the GMN, except maybe some really generic stuff.

Random world generation tables as well as a somewhat detailed example of the judicious application thereof, i.e. a small to mid-sized region a la Karameikos in B/X. Something concrete that people can either run with and flesh out as their home setting, or use as a paradigm for making a new one.

Mere tables, OTOH, would be very boring.

Please note, the correct abbreviation is not "GMN", its "FtA!GN!".

Duly noted.  What's wrong with GMN?  It's certainly easier to type.

Nope, I've read a little bit of Lovecraft and have CoC d20....that's it.

However, setting wise, I think a separate book should be done as a setting, make it mostly devoid of rules, but stat up everything.  Have special monsters and items, and maybe a few rules tweaks.

From here:

Cthulhu ftagn, what a wonderful phrase
Cthulhu ftagn, ain't no passin' craze
It means "He's sleepin'," until the end of our days
'Cuz then he awakes
And destroys the place...
Cthulhu ftagn.

I didn't catch that, Fta!gn! it is.  I've actually never read Cal of Cthulhu, neither the original book nor the game.

The original is a short story, and it has also been adapted into a rather entertaining film:

I had a copy, but I loaned it out and I'll never get it back.
