SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

How big is IDW these days?  I can't imagine they're really huge. How are they not going to go bankrupt over paying for the GI Joe license just to kill GI JOE comics for a generation, on purpose, as 'revenge' against people who like military-action comics by filling it with Fat Black Lesbian Supersoldiers?

The better question is what is so attractive about the financial cliff Marvel and to a much lesser degree DC are valiantly charging off of makes IDW think it's the road to success?

It's very to me at least imo. IDW has fallen into the same trap as both Marvel and DC. They pander to a very vocal segment of the fanbase. Unfortunately for all three comic publishers that vocal segment usually don't buy comics or not enough numbers for either three to be profitable. They kick up a fuss online and everywhere else get what they want then move on to next cause rinse and repeat.

IDW isn't huge.  They have a bunch of licensees like GI Joe, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, ROM, etc.  I seem to recall them saying they were at a 91% loss over last year and they blame the industry leaders for a lot of that.

Ah, here we go.

Not that I was ever really interested in comics this deeply, however what sort of metal age shall they call this generation? :p
Just make your fuckin\' guy and roll the dice, you pricks. Focus on what\'s interesting, not what gives you the biggest randomly generated virtual penis.  -- J Arcane

You know, people keep comparing non-TSR D&D to deck-building in Magic: the Gathering. But maybe it\'s more like Katamari Damacy. You keep sticking shit on your characters until they are big enough to be a star.

Let's see... we had the Gold Age, the Silver Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age... and from that I'd say we had the Diamond Age and right now I'd say we're in the Celluloid Age

Opaopajr

But diamonds and celluloid aren't metals! j/k It's as good an answer as any. :p I was hoping for something goofy like 'Molybdenum Age', or something.

OK, so these are great, but I don't feel like we need to continue having a thread linking to every one of these. If there's one particularly relevant to something going on in the Marvel thread, you can obviously post it there, or in likewise in future threads. I think the point has been made here, and attention given to the best critical analysis of SJW bullshit in comics there is.
