This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.
The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Youtube doesn't make a good news source.
Actually, it can. I just wouldn't recommend making it your only news source. There's a lot of garbage on there, but if you wade through you can find some gems like Philip DeFranco for a different perspective than you'll get from most of the MSM. The main thing with any news outlet is to look at multiple sources and look for verification before you get too outraged at anything.

I like DeFranco, but he's informed opinion, not news. "News" should be defined as firsthand reporting of incidents with verifiable facts. AKA, a press conference, video of an event, interview with the people in question, etc.

And I agree with the other posters on the hearsay issue. Hearsay shouldn't be instantly believed nor instantly disbelieved, but held in question until proven credible, preferably with verifiable facts if possible.

Not that I've found. YMMV. It can be a source for varied opinions but I wouldn't take any of it as news. And, IME, there is a risk of falling victim to confirmation bias. You can find some one spouting off any opinion on there if you look hard enough.

Remember when Illinois Nazis where a joke in the Blue Brothers movie?

Democracy, meh? (538)

"The salient fact of American politics is that there are fifty to seventy million voters each of whom will volunteer to live, with his family, in a cardboard box under an overpass, and cook sparrows on an old curtain rod, if someone would only guarantee that the black, gay, Hispanic, liberal, whatever, in the next box over doesn’t even have a curtain rod, or a sparrow to put on it."

If your response had anything to do with what I wrote, it might be useful. Dumb ass.

Just pointing out the humor in someone on an RPG forum saying "there are a few good comic books. But most are juvenile power fantasies with immature sex and violence thrown in under the mistaken impression that it makes them "mature.""

I mean, it's not much of a stretch to say "there are a few good role playing games. But most are juvenile power fantasies with immature sex and violence thrown in under the mistaken impression that it makes them "mature.".

Also, the whole thing about "most comic book readers are experiencing a prolonged adolescence and are socially maladjusted, thus their choice in reading material" could very easily be attributed to gamers as well, and has been.  So, maybe before you start looking down that nose of yours at comic readers, you should look to see exactly where you are standing because it isn't too far away from them.

Right back at you, dumbass ;)

It might be nice if that's how news worked but that's just not the case. What I like about DeFranco is that he has his own group of people to research stories and he presents each story as, "Here's what we know (sources down below), and here's what I think about it." I don't always agree with him, but it makes it a lot easier to watch him and make up my own mind rather than having CNN or Fox try to pass off their own agenda as the news. I saw coverage of stuff like the Catalonia situation on his channel well before I saw either of those organizations start talking about it.

Like I said, I don't think he should be relied on as the sole source for information, but as one additional asset for news he's a good resource to have.

It makes an excellent source for alternative facts, however.

But Arroz, you can't disbelieve their hearsay.  They're victims, so you have to believe them. Like that poor guy who was knifed just for having a nazi-like haircut. :-)

It's fun to watch the dumbasses on the right act just as hypocritical as the dumbasses on the left. The Colin Kaepernick situation, for example, has been a great source of lols for me.

This guy is a comics guy.  His videos where he reviews specific comic books and points out good/bad things about them are great.  I would never consider him as a reliable source for news.

Seconded. I don't know why anyone would really imo. Nor was it my intent by posting the videos.

Oh yes I fully understood what the posting of these vids was for.  I've listened to a bunch of his videos now as a result of this.  They are purely entertainment although they did help me come to terms with stuff that had bugged me about, and got me to stop buying, Cpt and Ms Marvel that I hadn't been able to coherently express.
