This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The RPGPundit's Own Forum Rules
This part of the site is controlled by the RPGPundit. This is where he discusses topics that he finds interesting. You may post here, but understand that there are limits. The RPGPundit can shut down any thread, topic of discussion, or user in a thread at his pleasure. This part of the site is essentially his house, so keep that in mind. Note that this is the only part of the site where political discussion is permitted, but is regulated by the RPGPundit.

Don't feed the troll.

I just don't get not liking a forum and still posting on it. I was banned on TBP and it;s so easy to get around the ban yet why bother if I am not going to enjoy myself on the forum.

It's funny though he hates being called a Troll yet likes to troll threads. Told me I should not say his posts should be ignored than pretty much post nothing really interesting beyond "ha ha trolling time" for the most part. He just wants to posts for shits and giggles in any case. Let him post and just don't waste the time or energy.

Actually, I don't give a shit if you call me a troll, and most of my posts on this part of the site are just for shits and giggles (but I tend to engage more on the gaming parts of the site).

Here are some more threats made by the left for "retribution" for wrongthink. For those of you triggered by the source, either disprove the facts or your sheeplike bleating will be ignored or ridiculed. There's a reason you don't see these truths on MSM... And it's largely because you are hoodwinked by your corporate overlords.

This sucks, and there should absolutely be less demonization of the opposite side. I think these sort of one-sided articles just increase that, though, with cherry-picked examples. In general, there has been a ton of hyper-partisanship that has ramped up over the last few years. There was a recent story over how Steve Bannon threatened to behead Anthony Fauci.

QuoteI'd actually like to go back to the old times of Tudor England. I'd put their heads on pikes, right, I'd put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats, you either get with the program or you're gone.

It's escalating to insane levels, in my opinion. In the other thread, I was called out as an antichrist, and that's right here on the boards.

I try to practice de-escalation, but it doesn't seem to be how the tide is flowing, in general.

Steven Mitchell

Yeah, de-escalation doesn't work when one side is after power by any means necessary, has no shame or honor or other virtue, and the "everybody just calm down and we'll be fine" rhetoric is directed disproportionately at the side causing 5% of the problems.  Basically, jhkim, you are playing the part of Joseph Chamberlain in this, with about the same results.

I agree it would be nice if media would cover things in a more balanced way. But MSM is covering for their sniffer and the alternative media are responding in kind. However, one sided opinion or not, the amount of questionable practices (almost entirely practiced and benefitting the left) lead to a tendency for demonization (rightly or wrongly)... As I do, I would take everything with a grain of salt, but not necessarily ignore it just because it paints one side as a worse actor in this shitshow of an election.

This seems like a change of topic to me. I think the other thread is the better place to talk about election issues - I'll respond there. In my post on this thread, I was responding to the claims about threats of violence and retribution. It's hard to get an exact metric on it, but it seems to me that such talk is scaled up similarly on both sides. For another example, here is a police chief who posted "Death to all Marxist Democrats," said another post. "Take no prisoners leave no survivors!!"

https://nypost.com/2020/11/08/police-chief-quits-after-calling-for-death-to-all-marxist-democrats/

This sort of talk is happening from both sides and it's unacceptable. Unsurprisingly, we've also seen an uptick in ideological violence from mass shootings to beatings and other violence. I am thankful that things are as relatively peaceful as they are. The violence was worse in the 1960s, for comparison -- but it has definitely gotten worse compared to the last two decades.

shuddemell

Except you cannot separate the two, try as you might. The thing that really bothers me is that ELECTED officials are playing this game as well (as indicated in the article I began this topic with). The threats of violence are attempts at voter and ideological suppression. And yes, both sides are making stupid statements in some cases, but when elected officials commit to keeping a list of ideological opponents to "punish", we've entered Banana Republic territory. These are the steps that eventually lead to mass killings and gulags. It's one thing for hyperbolic individuals on both sides to make these rash statements, it's a bridge far too far when elected officials are willing to start another "red scare". It is Orwellian and a nail in the coffin of our Republic if it isn't slammed down immediately.

Yep.  It's back to the 4 boxes:  Soap, Ballot, Jury, and Cartridge.  The 4th one is listed last because once it gets to that point, there aren't any good options left--only bad versus worse.  Widespread corruption with the so-called "elites" always produces a reaction--sooner or later.  There's not use complaining about the way people use the Soap box once Ballot and Jury are rapidly running out of trust.  If you don't like that, you'll like what comes next even less.

Unfortunately, that's what we are left with, you're not wrong. Though having ACB confirmed is a good thing in that regard. The moment they actually start packing the court is the moment when those cartridges may have to be employed.
