on the matter of brothels i always make the brothels in my games real fancy places usualy with both male and female prostitutes and all sorts of stuff no dingy old hellholes in my games

in fact in a !not wild west game i was in once i opened a brothel and got a heap of flack from the townsfolk for having male prostitutes but they all calmed down eventualy untill i got murdered and then they were out for the blood of whoever killed me

although in the prohibition enforcment game i was running if that had got off the ground i probably would have chucked in a few shitty brothels

Huh. Isn't it strange how different people do different things when they game. I think there has been a brothel in nearly every setting I've ever run.


Runs quickly down checklist: D&D and AD&D-check, Boothill-check, Call of Cthulhu-check (a PC ran one), Star Trek-check (Orion Slave Girls), Star Wars-double check, Honor+Intrigue-check. Only two exceptions: (1) a brothel never showed up in my Runequest in Glorantha campaigns (Balazar is not the height of civilization and it appears that there the oldest profession is either hunter or flint knapper) and (2) my Mythic Greece campaign - again brothel didn't really seem to fit the Bronze Age culture (I guess) and slavery was omnipresent.

it does not come up for me a whole lot either (of course theres not much to draw on i have not played much in my life) the only reason it showed up in everybody is john is because i decided it would make sense for the vampires to make there lair in the red light district
